-
- One of the best ways to learn more
-
- about programming is to study the
-
- listings of various programs, to see
-
- how other programmers have used their
-
- ideas and techniques to solve
-
- prgramming problems.
-
- But if you try to print a listing
-
- containing Commodore keyboard
-
- graphics, you might be disappointed.
-
- For one thing, even if you have a
-
- Commodore printer, the printout might
-
- not be informative-- some of the
-
- keyboard graphic characters cannot be
-
- indentified without close comparison
-
- with one another.
-
- And if you have a non-Commodore
-
- printer, your printer might even spew
-
- out gibberish or drop lines of code.
-
- ANY PRINTER translates Commodore
-
- keyboard graphics into English or
-
- ASCII that can be read by any
-
- printer. This means that a
-
- cursor-down symbol, for example, is
-
- printed as (CRSR D). Thus any
-
- listing, even if you do have a
-
- Commodore printer, can be much easier
-
- to read if ANY PRINTER is used.
-
- ANY PRINTER translates both program
-
- and sequential files, and lets you
-
- skip to any desired position in the
-
- file before you begin printing.
-
- To use ANY PRINTER, you must of
-
- course have the program you want to
-
- read stored on disk.
-
- After loading ANY PRINTER, insert
-
- the disk that has the program you
-
- want to read. After a quick title
-
- screen, you will be asked if you want
-
- to see the disk directory to check
-
- the spelling of the program. RETURN
-
- defaults to "no" and sends you to the
-
- next screen.
-
- If you answer (Y)es, however, the
-
- disk directory will be displayed,
-
- allowing you to see the spelling and
-
- type (program or sequential) of your
-
- program. When you have seen the
-
- correct filename, input "Y". You
-
- will be asked if the program is a
-
- (P)rogram or (S)equential file. ANY
-
- PRINTER then asks if you want the
-
- program to go to the (S)creen or the
-
- (P)rinter.
-
- Next, the program asks if you wish
-
- to skip past the beginning of the file
-
- to any point in the file before you
-
- start printing. This option can save
-
- a great deal of your time, not to
-
- mention paper.
-
- Hitting F1 at any time stops the
-
- printing. Lastly, you will then be
-
- asked if you want to use ANY PRINTER
-
- again.
