- PEEKs, POKEs, & SYSes, part 46
-
- by Jim Weiler and Reggie Beavers
- ======================================
- -------------
- IN CONCLUSION
- -------------
-
- Let's see what we've learned in the
-
- past few months... We know how to
-
- define instruments with ADSR. We can
-
- further define them using waveform
-
- and pulse rate, and we know how to
-
- set pitch. It sounds like we know
-
- everything we need to make music.
-
- But we haven't covered everything
-
- there is to know about Commdore 64
-
- sound... not by a long shot. You
-
- can filter the voices; you can
-
- "ring modulate" them; you can play
-
- them in the background while other
-
- things are going on. But what we
-
- HAVE given you will get you started.
-
- If you want to become a sound
-
- professional, I suggest you do what
-
- most of us have done: get out the
-
- reference manuals and start
-
- experimenting. Learning by doing
-
- really is the best way.
-
- What did WE do for you this month?
-
- Well, we put together three short
-
- demo programs:
-
- PPS #46, YIKES, and HORRORS.
-
-
- PPS #46 is our featured demo. It's
-
- a two-octave, one-note-at-a-time
-
- organ keyboard. Not very fancy, but
-
- it may get you started making music
-
- with your 64. YIKES and HORRORS are
-
- just some junk sounds we came up with
-
- while we were experimenting. If you
-
- want to hear those two, you'll have
-
- to LOAD and RUN them yourselves.
