- EASYCOPY
-
-
- Welcome to the world of disk file
-
- copiers. If you own only one disk
-
- drive, then you know the problems
-
- associated with copying a file from
-
- one disk to another. BASIC program
-
- files are easy. Simply LOAD the
-
- program from the original disk and
-
- then SAVE the program to the new
-
- disk. But what do you do about
-
- SEQuential files, Machine-Language
-
- files, or even RElative files? The
-
- answer is use a file copy program.
-
- The only problem with this is that
-
- most file copiers cost more than the
-
- software you want to copy or are so
-
- complex and unintelligible that only
-
- a 4 year old cartridge cracker could
-
- operate them. So what's a Commodore
-
- owner to do? Simple, use EASYCOPY.
-
- Written by Jeff Johnson, EASYCOPY
-
- makes it simple to copy files from
-
- one disk to another. Here is a
-
- run-down of what you can do with
-
- EASYCOPY.
-
- 1> BAM Copy
- 2> File Copy
- 3> Whole Disk Copy
- 4> Display BAM
- 5> Relative File Copy
- 6> Quit
-
- Now for an in-depth explanation of
-
- each available option.
-
- 1> BAM Copy
-
- When you select BAM Copy, you are
-
- first prompted to insert the source
-
- disk. This is the disk with the files
-
- on it you want to copy. After you
-
- insert the source disk, press a key.
-
- EASYCOPY will then read the BAM of the
-
- disk and begin reading data from the
-
- disk into a buffer. When the buffer
-
- is full or all of the information has
-
- been read, you will be prompted to
-
- insert the destination disk. Make
-
- sure that you do not need any data on
-
- this disk as it will be NEWed. When
-
- you have the disk in the drive, press
-
- a key and the data will be written
-
- onto your disk. Continue swapping
-
- disks when prompted to do so until
-
- the program returns to the main menu.
-
- At this point, the copy is finished.
-
- 2> File Copy
-
- When you select a File Copy, you
-
- will be prompted to insert the source
-
- disk. This is the disk that contains
-
- the files that you want to copy.
-
- After you insert the source disk,
-
- press a key. EASYCOPY will read the
-
- directory of the disk and display the
-
- files in a scrolling menu. Move from
-
- file to file with the CRSR keys. The
-
- spacebar toggles whether or not you
-
- want to copy an individual file.
-
- When you have selected all of the
-
- files you want to copy, press the Q
-
- key to begin the copy. EASYCOPY will
-
- tell you when you need to insert the
-
- destination disk. Please note that
-
- the destination disk should already
-
- be formatted. Continue swapping
-
- disks when EASYCOPY tells you to
-
- until you return to the main menu.
-
- At this point, all of your files have
-
- been copied.
-
- 3> Whole Disk Copy
-
- Use this option when you want to
-
- copy ALL of the files on one disk to
-
- another disk. Again follow the
-
- INSERT SOURCE DISK and INSERT
-
- DESTINATION DISK prompts. Please
-
- make sure that it is ok to destroy
-
- the data on your destination disk as
-
- EASYCOPY will NEW it. Your copy is
-
- finished when you are returned to the
-
- main menu.
-
- 4> Display BAM
-
- This option merely allows you to
-
- view the Block Availability Map on
-
- your disk. You can use this option
-
- to see how much of your disk is
-
- currently being used.
-
- 5> Relative File Copy
-
- You should use this option when you
-
- need to copy a RELative file.
-
- Because of the strange and complex
-
- nature of RELative files, this option
-
- was singled out from the rest of the
-
- options. When you select this
-
- option, you are first asked to insert
-
- the source disk. This is the disk
-
- that contains the RELative file that
-
- you wish to copy. Next you are asked
-
- for a filename. This should be the
-
- name of the RELative file you wish to
-
- copy. EASYCOPY then looks for the
-
- file on the disk. If the file is
-
- found then EASYCOPY will begin to
-
- copy the file. Again, follow the
-
- INSERT SOURCE DISK and INSERT
-
- DESTINATION DISK prompts. Please
-
- note that EASYCOPY assumes that the
-
- destination disk is already formatted.
-
- If the file is not found, then you
-
- will be returned to the main menu.
-
- 6> End
-
- This is the easiest option of all.
-
- When you decide it is time to quit
-
- copying and go eat supper, EASYCOPY
-
- will return your computer to the
-
- normal, BASIC mode of operation.
-
- Remember, this program does NOT return
-
- to LOADSTAR.
-
- If you would like to RUN EASYCOPY
- \oad"easycopy",8
- now, press the "\" (English pound)
-
- key now. If you would like to use
-
- EASYCOPY outside of the LOADSTAR
-
- environment, all you need to do is
-
- LOAD "EASYCOPY",8 and then type RUN.
