  3. It is very dank here.  The walls are
  4. entirely made of brick^ some of which
  5. looks very unevenly mortared.  The
  6. floor is made of wooden planks.
  7. There is dampness everywhere^ and a
  8. bone-chilling cold seems to permeate
  9. the air.  The cellar is quite
  10. enormous^ ranging across the entire
  11. breadth of the house.  There is a
  12. spiral staricase leading up.
