- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- This is an online door game for most Amiga Bulletin Board Systems. It will
- cleanly exit when send a CTRL-C signal and this has been tested with CNet and
- DLG.
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Could someone please post this file on Aminet and ADS. I don't know how to do
- either.
-
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Set up goes as follows:
-
- Set up has been changed a little since version 1.0.
-
- Choose a location to put the files 'vampire11' and 'vampire.scores'.
-
- The file 'vampire.scores' must exist or the game will exit. It may be blank,
- but it must exist.
-
- This is the usage for the program. You will also get this if you enter wrong
- arguments for the program. All 3 arguments are required.
-
- Vampire's Castle v1.1 by Chuck Roman
- Usage: Vampire1.1 ["USERNAME"] [ANSI/COLOR/ASCII/MONO] [PATH of files]
-
- The first argument is the callers name in quotes.
-
- The second is something telling it whether to use Color or not. The CNet flag
- for this is %28 which return ANSI or ASCII. The DLG flag is %ANSI (I think)
- which returns Color or Mono.
-
- The third argument is the pathname where it can find its score file.
-
- Under CNet, this usage should work: (Set up as a DOS program)
-
- DOS filename: PFiles:Adventure_games/Vampire11
- Description : {C5}Vampire's Castle: {C3}Can {C1}YOU {C3}kill the count?{Q1}
- Arguments : "%1" %28 PFiles:Adventure_games
-
- Access groups : 0-31
- Flags required :
- Post date : 26-Oct-94 00:23 Purge date : 00-Jan-00 00:00
- Item use rate# : 0 Item disabled : No
- Debit daily time : No One user at a time : No
- Disable MCI : No Disable word-wrap : Yes
- Disable More? : Yes Disable sysop MCI : No
- Enable SkyPix : No Delete when purged : No
- Raw console startup : No
-
-
- The program should work OK on multi-lines and I believe it can even be made
- resident. The program runs in CLI mode. Do not use the RAW setting on CNet or
- DLG.
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Bugs? Possibly. Although nothing that I can find. The adventure CAN be
- solved, and it is definately not as complex as an Infocom.
-
- It's whole reason for existance is simple. I have NEVER seen any of the text
- adventures on my BBS actually solved by anyone. Vampire's Castle CAN be solved
- in a single session.
-
- This program is not public domain, nor shareware, nor crippleware, but Amiga
- SysOps are allowed to use it all they like WITHOUT CHARGE, KEYFILES, ETC.
-
- Would I like to receive anything for this program? Sure. If you are an author
- of a door for CNet or Standard I/O and it requires a keyfile registration, how
- about registering a copy for me and sending me a keyfile? (Addresses at end of
- file) After all, I have given you a program to use, how about returning the
- favor? I don't think this is much to ask, certainly much better than asking
- for 20 dollars or more. I have a 28.8K modem on my line, so It would only take
- seconds to send. (I'll still take 20 bucks though. B^) )
-
- Programs that I have in the oven:
-
- DoorShell for DLG Pro
- This is completed, but unreleased. I received absolutely NO replies whatsoever
- to the above offer when made exclusively to DLG SysOps, so I am not bothering
- to help DLG owners with this tool. Apparently they are not interested in
- sharing good BBS utilities & games.
-
- Features:
- Puts all DLG menu commands in an easy to update ASCII file.
- Provides GLOBAL COMMANDS to DLG, A new log file system, an easy way to allow
- only one copy of a program to run, reduced amount of ASSIGNs for games, and a
- high-score updating system for games, etc.. It's basically a brand new menu
- system for DLG.
-
- Scramble (About 50% done. Multi-user interactive is being added.)
- A clone of the Scramble word game on the DELPHI service.
