-
- ò FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
-
- Q: What is in AAL's 'The Affordable life'?
-
- A: An informative, interactive, upbeat æfinanceÆ teaching tool designed to help AAL
- members in their 20s and 30s manage their personal finances. AAL Affordable Life
- has four major sections: - Your Financial Attitude, Managing Your Money, Credit
- and Debt and Planning Your Future. We encourage you to visit each section, as they
- cover various topics relating to successful financial planning and management.
- Furthermore, there is an on-screen-expert consultant who is accessible at any time
- to offer feed back, advice and additional knowledge on the topics covered in this
- product.
-
-
- Q: In some places in the program, the color of my text/graphics/video is bad. How
- can I fix this?
-
- A: This software is designed to run on a 256-color setting. However the videos may
- run better on a higher color setting. Some of the colors used in AAL Affordable
- Life are selected from your system's colors. If you find the colors to be
- unacceptable in the AAL Affordable Life, change to the Windows default colors.
- To see the settings, right click on desktop, go to properties and select settings.
-
-
- Q: Why can't I hear any sound?
-
- A: AAL Affordable Life can produce sound only if you have a sound card capable of
- playing 8-bit audio and if you have the appropriate Windows drivers installed. If
- you have a sound card installed and still can't hear any audio, you should check
- whether your sound drivers have been installed properly (as well as checking the
- speakers and volume control).
-
-
- Q: Why canÆt I see any videos in the program?
-
- A: AAL Affordable Life uses Intel Indeo 3.2 to display videos. You need to verify
- that you have these drivers installed. If you are using Windows95 look in the
- Control Panel under Multimedia->Advanced->Video Compression Codecs. For Windows98
- users, look under Contro Panel under Multimedia->Devices->Video Compression Codecs.
- Also on this same screen, there should be a listing for "Media Control Devices".
- In here you should see an entry for "Active Movie MCI Driver". If either of these
- entries are missing, run the AAL Affordable Life install again. Furthermore, it
- is also possible that your CD-ROM drive might be momentarily unable to read the
- video. If so, eject and reinsert your CD. Wait a moment for the drive to read and
- then try to play the video.
-
-
- Q: I can see videos, but why are they "choppy"?
-
- A: Video playback is very demanding on the CD-ROM drive, the CPU, and the video
- card. The speed and smoothness of video playback is dictated by the speed and
- quality of all three. As a consequence, videos could appear choppy on slower
- systems or older CD-ROM drives.
-
-
- Q: Why does my screen look distorted?
-
- A: Be sure you are using the 256-color, 640 x 480 or higher resolution. 640 x 480
- resolution gives a full screen display while resolutions higher than 640 x 480
- gives a standard window type display. If you use a driver that provides less than
- 256 colors, the screen will appear distorted.
-
-
- Q: What if I enter a number in the program and the results are obviously incorrect?
-
- A: We have tested this program quite exhaustively, and have tried to cover all the
- bases. If you find that a particular conclusion to be incorrect, double-check
- your assumptions. If you still feel there is an error, please contact us! We'd
- love to hear about it so we can help correct the situation!
-
-
- Q: I canÆt go to the AALÆs web site. Why?
-
- A: For this you need a modem, and an Internet connection. Before clicking on this
- section of the program, make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
-
-
- Q: Why does my computer seem to be running very slowly and the program acting
- erratically?
-
- A: It is possible that you don't have enough memory or resources available for the
- program to run properly. The minimum requirement to install/run this application
- is 24 MB of RAM and 15 MB of free hard disk space. However, we recommend higher
- resources for better performance.
