  3. accounts. Too many open accounts 
  4. can cause you to be denied credit on  
  5. a mortgage or vehicle loan. To close 
  6. an account, cut up the card and 
  7. return it to the card issuer. The 
  8. destroyed card should be 
  9. accompanied with a note indicating 
  10. you would like to close the 
  11. account. Closed accounts are not 
  12. always automatically reported to 
  13. the credit bureau, so request that 
  14. the closed account be reported to
