  13.     Welcome  to ModemNews, a new magazine dedicated to all the BBS users
  14.   around our Nation and Canada.  ModemNews can  only  be  successful  if
  15.   you,  the readers, make contributions to the cause!  Keep in mind that
  16.   ModemNews  Magazine  is  wholly  supported   by   YOUR   efforts   and
  17.   contibutions.  More on that later......

  21.                           Hardware requirements:
  22.  
  23.     ModemNews  can  be  run  on  any IBM or true compatible with a color
  24.   monitor, (or monochrome with a simulation program).   Make  sure  that
  25.   ANSI.SYS  is  in  your CONFIG.SYS file. ModemNews has been tested with
  26.   DOS versions 2.11 through 4.01.

  30.     Open your copy of ModemNews Magazine into an empty directory or onto
  31.   a clean floppy disk.  Make sure there is adequate room on  your  drive
  32.   or  diskette.   Exclusive  of  the  original  archived file, ModemNews
  33.   usually runs a hefty 225-250K per issue.

  38.                                 Now What ?

  40.            Now, once you are set up and comfortable, just type

  44.                       and you'll be up and running.

  46.     Hitting "F1" will bring you a help screen, and "F2" will allow you
  47.     to copy articles from the magazine to your drive.  It's easy!

  51.                               Contributions

  53.     Contributions  are  always  welcome  to  ModemNews  in  the   following
  54.     categories

  57. Humor:         Anything!  Puzzles, games, jokes, you name it!  Because
  58.                of space limitations, contributions here will be
  59.                entered on a juried basis.  Only the best will end up
  60.                in our column.
  61.  
  62. Stories:       Feel a bit like Stevenson or Thoreau?  Got that
  63.    &           'special' writers touch?  Send us your very best works,
  64.  Poems         and see yourself published in a nationwide magazine.
  65.  
  66. Letters:       Letters to the editor will be accepted from any reader,
  67.                and if space permits, letters will be answered.
  68.  
  69. Recipes:       Recipes will be gladly accepted by this food-aholic!
  70.                All ingredients should be listed, along with exact
  71.                directions for mixing and cooking instructions.
  72.  
  73. News & Views:  Anything you think is news, and should be covered
  74.                by ModemNews will be considered for publication.
  75.  
  76. Messages:      If you come across a message thread on your favorite
  77.                BBS, and you think we should all be able to see it,
  78.                just capture it and send it our way.  We're always
  79.                looking for the unusual and interesting.

  81. Fillers:       Anything that has not been covered above will be
  82.                considered for inclusion in the next issue of
  83.                ModemNews.  Take a chance and send it our way!

  87.     Make sure your submissions have been spell and grammer  checked,  in
  88.   pure ASCII text and set in lines no longer than 72 columns, and you're
  89.   on your way!

  94.   ModemNews Magazine just upload it to your nearest ModemNews  NewsStand
