  19. ON YOUR SYSTEM.  WHAT FOLLOWS IS A SAMPLE FROM THAT SECTION.

  22.              StS has an integrated external setup program to allow the user to
  23.         configure it to his system and requirements.  "Integrated external"
  24.         means that the setup program is actually a separate program that is
  25.         automatically executed by StS and appears to be an integral part of
  26.         STS.EXE. The advantage of an integrated external program over a
  27.         built-in setup routine is a significant savings in runtime memory
  28.         usage.  Since the program is integrated, it works just like a part of
  29.         StS and does not require any additional work by the user to call.
  30.  
  31.              The external setup program is named STSETxxx.EXE where the 'xxx'
  32.         refers to the version number of StS with which the external setup
  33.         program was designed to work.  For example in StS version 4.00 the
  34.         setup program is named STSET400.EXE.  IN ORDER FOR STEREO SHELL TO
  35.         FIND AND EXECUTE THE SETUP PROGRAM, IT MUST EXIST SOMEWHERE IN THE
  36.         USER DEFINED DOS PATH.

  41.              It is strongly suggested that the user create a sub-directory
  42.         named STEREO and copy all of the files associated with StS into
  43.         that sub-directory.  If there is space on the C: drive for this
  44.         sub-directory that is the recommended place for it.  StS uses an
  45.         integrated external setup program (see above) that must reside in
  46.         the DOS path so it is also suggested that the user edit the path
  47.         statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to include the STEREO sub-
  48.         directory.  If you have no path statement, then add the following
  49.         line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.   PATH=C:\STEREO\
  50.  
  51.              To execute StS, just type in STS at the DOS prompt like you
  52.         would any other program.  StS is not resident or special with respect
  53.         to general operation with one exception.  StS expects to find the
  54.         COMSPEC environment string defined.  In 99% of all cases MS-DOS has
  55.         already done this job for you so no action is required by the user.
  56.         In the event that StS does not find this string, it will report the
  57.         error.  If this happens, then simply add this statement to your
  58.         AUTOEXEC.BAT file.   SET COMSPEC = C:\COMMAND.COM   If you are not
  59.         running a hard disk, you should adjust the drive letter as required.

  61.              When executed, the StS screen will appear on your display, in
  62.         living black and white.  The system defaults are set to direct
  63.         screen writes which allow the program to operate on any type of
  64.         IBM display compatible system.  If your machine is not IBM display
  65.         compatible, you will need to specify the /B switch on the DOS command
  66.         line to force StS to use BIOS screen writes.   ie. STS /B
