  26.     EDDY requires MS-DOS 2.0 or newer, and uses about 180 KB memory.

  30.     The complete EDDY package includes the following files:

  32.     1. EDDYREAD.ME - This file
  33.     2. EDDY.COM - The main program
  34.     3. EDDY.AUX - Contains overlays for LOOK, Update, HELP, and menus
  35.     4. EDDY.USE - Sample file to illustrate Point-and-Shoot commands
  36.     5. REGISTER.BAT - Batch file to print the registration form for EDDY
  37.     6. EDDY.DOC - Complete User's Manual
  38.     7. EDDY_HST.DOC - History of changes, by version
  39.     8. EDDY_REG.DOC - Registration form
  40.     9. EDDY_WHY.DOC - Reasons why you should use EDDY
  41.    10. VENDOR.DOC - Conditions for commercial distribution of EDDY

  43.     The EDDY files are packaged for distribution in two formats:
  44.  
  45.         Package format 1 contains all files in ready-to-use form.  About 450
  46.         KB disk space required, including documentation files
  47.  
  48.         Package format 2 has the documentation files (numbers 6 - 10 in the
  49.         list above) combined as a compressed, self-extracting file,
  50.         EDDY_DOC.EXE, which was created using LHA.EXE, Copyright Haruyasu
  51.         Yoshizaki.  About 270 KB disk space required.
  52.  
  53.     Package format 2 is used for distributing EDDY on 360 KB, 5-1/4" disks.
  54.     All other distributions use package format 1.
  55.  
  56.     Installation
  57.     ------------
  58.  
  59.     1.  Copy all files to the disk/directory you'll use to execute EDDY.  If
  60.         one of the files you just copied was EDDY.DOC, the installation is
  61.         now complete.
  62.  
  63.     2.  If your set of files includes the file EDDY_DOC.EXE, you have the
  64.         EDDY distribution package format 2, used with 360 KB, 5-1/4" floppy
  65.         drive systems.
  66.  
  67.         If you have a system with 360 KB, 5-1/4" floppies and no hard drive,
  68.         use the following steps:
  69.  
  70.         a. Copy EDDY_DOC.EXE to a separate, blank, formatted diskette.  The
  71.            decompressed documentation files won't fit on a single 360K
  72.            floppy with the other EDDY files.
  73.  
  74.         b. To access the documentation files, run EDDY_DOC.EXE from this
  75.            separate diskette.  This will decompress the User's Manual and
  76.            other information files.  These files will require about 250 KB
  77.            of disk space when decompressed.
  78.  
  79.     Once EDDY is installed, the simplest way to get familiar with it is to
  80.     just type "EDDY" and [Enter].  There is no danger of damage to your disk
  81.     data, because no changes will be made to any of your directories or
  82.     files unless you explicitly tell EDDY to do so.  A message telling you
  83.     what is about to occur is always displayed, and a confirmation keypress
  84.     is always required.

  90.     EDDY is supplied as-is.  The author disclaims all warranties, expressed
  91.     or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of merchant-
  92.     ability and the warranties of fitness for any purpose.  Copies of the
  93.     program may not be sold for more than the cost of the medium they are
  94.     copied on, plus reasonable handling charges.  EDDY and its User's Manual
  95.     may be copied ad lib provided all files, including the author's
  96.     copyright notice and disclaimers of warranty are reproduced in full.

  98.     Although EDDY is distributed in this way, it is NOT free and is NOT in
  99.     the public domain.  After a reasonable trial period, if you find EDDY to
  100.     be useful and satisfactory to you, and you continue to use EDDY, then
