- Changes in Encrypt-It v1.40 for DOS provided the following over v1.30:
-
- - Up to 50% faster encryption/decryption. Replaced the cyclic redundancy
- check (CRC) routines with high speed assembly language versions using
- lookup tables. Result: Much faster encryption and decryption. However,
- this results in encrypted files that can't be decrypted by previous
- versions of Encrypt-It.
- - Added additional code to catch the error condition where you may try to
- encrypt or obtain file statistics on a zero length file. DOS will allow
- you to create a file without anything in it.
- - Corrected a couple of typos in the context sensitive help file.
- - Expanded string input routines to handle high order ASCII characters for
- use in encryption keys and other areas. This improves the compatibility
- with the Windows version which could use these characters in previous
- versions.
- - Added information on both USA and overseas vendors. See VENDORS.DOC for
- details.
- - Corrected a problem with the path installation area where cursor positioning
- was incorrect.
- - Other minor touchups and improvements.
- - Additional changes on key handling to make the DOS and Windows versions
- more compatible when using upper ASCII codes in keys. This is especially
- needed when using foreign language versions of Encrypt-It.
- - Fixed a bug in the statistics area where VERY large files in the megabyte
- range could generate statistics that exceeded the supported display values.
