What's Going On?!?
These scripts create a Quark document according to the currently opened Quark template. The Quark template automatically formats the document, and the script just fills in the blanks. The idea here is that you can create your own template, make a couple dinky changes to one of these scripts, (or none at all!), and have your own ╥custom Quark document generating script╙ with nary an iota of effort.
Generic Script
This script makes a Quark document representing the Kudo Catalog, having a simple layout of 12 images per page, with the name underneath. Includes page number.
Avery #8167 Script
The Avery #8167 label is the perfect size for putting on those 35mm slides. This script lays out 80 of those little suckers with a tiny thumbnail, the name, and a wee bit o' the comments. Includes page number.
How Do I Make My Own?!?
Easy as AppleScript Pie. These scripts are almost completely identical, and the small differences between them are isolated at the very top and the very bottom of the scripts. The changes you will need to make are extremely minimal and straightforward. OK, here are the steps to take:
1) This step is mandatory. Get hip with the AppleScript/Quark template paradigm. This will require reading the article ╥Image is Everything╙, X-RAY magazine Volume 1 Number 5. If you got this Kudo on CDROM, the article will be in this folder. Otherwise you can look through your back issues, or you can stuff this address into your web toaster and download it from our website:
2) Make a template of your own design, as per the article. Note that the scripts here, like the one in the article, operate on the assumption that each picture box will be associated with the same number of text boxes, which will be filled out in the same manner. In other words, the page is composed of identically formatted cells. If you want to break that rule then you must me an advanced chÄf and be willing to do real cÜÜking.
3) Copy one of the scripts and start making changes. As mentioned, the portions of the script which you would want to change occur at the very top and the very bottom, and are clearly marked as such.
4) Be a macho and send in your scripts/templates to Kudo so that we can share them with everyone. This step is mandatory.

How to Run these Scripts
There are two ways to run any of these AppleScripts. Both methods acheive approximately identical results:
1) Place the script in the ╥Scripts╙ folder in the Kudo application folder, then select the script from the ╥Scripts╙ menu. This is the most convenient way. No mess.
2) Open the script with the ╥Script Editor╥ application, eg, by double clicking on the script while in the Finder. Hit the ╥Run╙ button, or select ╥Run╙ from the menu, etc, to run the script. This method allows you to read any comments or suggestions included in the actual script itself, if you're interested. Also, applications like ╥Scriptable Text Editor╙ will find it easier to get your attention when they want to talk to you╔
