  1. This is for all of you who don't want to read the documentation!

  7.     If you used to use any older versions of ZeroNews, see 'Upgrading' in
  8.     the main documentation!
  9.  
  10.     How do you install ZeroNews? Easy:
  11.  
  12.     (1) Unarchive the archive in your textfiles directory, for Remote Access
  13.         this is usually C:\RA\TXTFILES. 
  14.         For Ezycom this would usually be C:\EZY\TXT.
  15.         If you have unarched somewhere else, move ALL the files to this 
  16.         directory.
  17.         
  18.         The ANSI/ASCII/AVATAR files are created in the directory in which 
  19.         the ZN6.EXE file is in. If you put ZN6.EXE in your path, and run it
  20.         from another directory, news files are created in your current
  21.         directory.

  23.     (2) Change to the directory where you installed the ZeroNews files to and
  24.         then type 'ZN6' to start the program. (Make sure you are in the same
  25.         directory as ZeroNews, as it needs to find the config & help files).

  27.     So far so good, right?
  28.  
  29.     (3) If your output file names are NOT news.ans & news.asc then you should 
  30.         add an option in your BBS to actually display the news files once they
  31.         are created. In Ezycom or Remote Access you must enter your menu 
  32.         editing programs. RACONFIG -M in Remote Access, or EZYMENU
  33.         with Ezycom.
  34.  
  35.     (4) Make sure your BBS is set up to display the files NEWS.ANS, NEWS.ASC
  36.         & NEWS.AVT, or whatever you changed the output filenames to. 
  37.         Remote Access and Ezycom AUTOMATICALLY look for the files NEWS.???
  38.         when they start up. Other BBS systems do not.
  39.
