- I've just had success with KERMIT use with my own IBM monster mainframe
- where the network hackers installed KERMIT and I've been tweeking it
- into standards. U.S. Customs is a fun place to work.
-
- Check out the ZMNUCOLR.T - I had a lot of fun figuring out how to do
- that.
-
- On color attributes in lput and type commands:
- You must use the "1" highlight character in Esc[n;nm ANSI strings
- in order to obtain highlighted colors (bright). Otherwise, ZCOMM
- display driver shows low-intensity colors. Place the "1" last.
-
- Author's background:
- Retired USAF reservist, former technical school instructor for USAF/USMC
- combined Computer Sciences School at Quantico, VA, also stationed at the
- Pentagon (in a window-less office for 4 years). Currently a contractor
- for US Customs Service as an IBM mainframe operating systems systems
- programmer/engineer.
-
- I have some talent for creating user-friendly interfaces to all sorts of
- powerful but quirky software. ZCOMM and YAM fit into this category, as
- they have a wealth of features but they don't advertise them. Looking
- over the YAM manual for the 37th time, I've found that every CONCEIVABLE
- processing option has its own numeric or string parameter, and that
- ZCOMM and YAM can be persuaded to handle almost ANY operating
- environment. The author of these fine communications software products
- is an obvious genius, who just needs some supporters to put on a more
- "commercial" face to the software.
-
- Commercialism is not my object in my support of ZCOMM/YAM, as I use them
- daily and admire their strengths [and occasionally damn their quirks -
- that I later find documentation for in researching why a particular
- situation happened]. I support and promote good software, and my
- recommendations I provide sparingly, as my professional reputation
- becomes associated with products I recommend.
-
- I recommend Omen Technology products.
