- Now we will hang up and attempt to call you back. After you hear the
- phone ring (or your terminal displays "RING"), instruct your modem to
- answer. For Hayes-compatible modems, this is accomplished by typing
- "ATA" (without the quotes) and pressing the <ENTER> key. If necessary,
- consult your modem manual for the correct command. (Don't pick up the
- phone when it rings!) Once connected, you'll be prompted for your BBS
- password to complete your verification.
-
- Possible reasons for connection failure:
-
- 1. Somebody else is trying to call this board while we're trying to
- call you.
- 2. Your modem or phone is offhook.
- 3. Somebody picks up a telephone on your end.
-
- Allow at least 10 seconds for the modem to establish a connection. If
- it fails, wait for the next call and try again. (We'll make three
- attempts to connect.)
