  2.                      Notes for XlaxNode 2.31 to 2.32 Update
  3.  
  4.  
  5.           FrontDoor nodelist format is changed to support Gamma 1.13
  6.           or later.  Older versions of FrontDoor are not supported.
  7.  
  8.           Documentation is updated to describe special considerations
  9.           for FrontDoor users.
  10.  
  11.           Documentation is updated to describe handling of Hold, Down
  12.           and Private nodes.
  13.  
  14.           Support for dual mode modem users is improved.  Commands
  15.           that were previously intended to support a single modem flag
  16.           (HST or PEP) now support multiple flags (HST and V32) at the
  17.           same time:

  19.             o  Multiple flag strings are permitted on the MAXBAUD
  20.                statement.
  21.  
  22.             o  Multiple ModemString commands can now be used.
  23.  
  24.             o  Multiple Cxl-Strings can be used on the Pursuit

  27.           XlaxDiff will now unarc a NodeList even if no applicable
  28.           NodeDiff files are present.  This facilitates automatic
  29.           processing when NodeDiffs are not used.

  31.           Several bugs are squashed:
  32.  
  33.             o  Problem with "Access Denied" messages is corrected.  If
  34.                you marked XlaxNode.Ovr read-only to bypass this
  35.                problem, be sure to change it back before installing
  36.                this version.
  37.  
  38.             o  FrontDoor Nodelist:  Underscores were sometimes left in
  39.                node and sysop names.  Independent nodes were host
  40.                routed to RC and admin nodes routed to ZC.
  41.  
  42.             o  Seadog Nodelist:  If a node had a Hub or IGate, the
  43.                node was listed as its own hub, causing Seadog not to
  44.                hub route.
  45.  
  46.             o  Under DOS 4.0 and/or network operation, Access Denied
  47.                errors were generated.
  48.  
  49.             o  Incorrectly formatted PCP.DAT files could cause
  50.                unpredicatble results.
  51.  
  52.             o  The first syntax error will not abort the control file
  53.                scan.  The entire file will be syntax checked.
  54.  
  55.             o  XlaxDiff did not correctly support drive or path names
  56.                in the /X switch.

  59.                      Notes for XlaxNode 2.22 to 2.31 Update
  60.  
  61.  
  62.           NOTE: Version 2.30 had a serious bug and should not be used!
  63.  
  64.           Program now has an OVR (overlay) file that must be in the
  65.           same directory as the EXE file.  Memory usage is reduced by
  66.           about 20k.
  67.  
  68.           Support added for FrontDoor (FDLIST) and TPBoard (TPBLIST).
  69.           See documentation for full details.

  71.           ZONE statement fixed so comments or extra white space don't
  72.           cause syntax error messages.

  78.           is INCLUDE, and only one NODE statement may appear.

  82.           the run.  Most likely, these represent typographical errors
  83.           and should be corrected.

  86.           nodelist flags proposal.

  88.                      Notes for XlaxNode 2.10 to 2.22 Update
  89.  
  90.  
  91.           This release represents some minor bug fixes and
  92.           enhancements.  None of the changes should be traumatic.
  93.  
  94.           Warning: Generic MS-DOS machines (Rainbow, H/Z-100) MUST use
  95.           the /G (generic) switch on both XlaxNode and XlaxDiff
  96.           command lines so ANSI escape sequences are generated.
  97.           Otherwise, PC BIOS calls are used and ANSI.SYS is not
  98.           needed.
  99.  
  100.           Warning: The default for REPORT has been changed to NOREPORT
  101.           to be consistent will the defaults for all other other
  102.           output files.  If you want REPORT, ask for it.
  103.  
  104.           Warning: The WARTS/NOWARTS command has been deleted.
  105.           NOWARTS is assumed.
  106.  
  107.           Warning: All input nodelists with standard Fidonet header
  108.           lines will have their CRC's verified and any errors
  109.           reported.  At the completion of all normal processing, an
  110.           error level of 2 will be generated.  The integrity of the
  111.           output nodelists is questionable, but you may use them if
  112.           you desire.

  114.           Feature: (at least to some)  The "!" option on MYLIST and
  115.           PVTLIST allows zoned lists like Alternet, Eggnet or
  116.           FamilyNet to be treated as Regions within your own Zone.
  117.           This allows direct communication without the use of a
  118.           ZoneGate.

  120.           Feature: XlaxNode accepts -Cfilename on the command line to
  121.           override the default control file name.

  123.           Feature: All memory management is dynamic.  Just like
  124.           American Excess, there are no preset limits.  If you are
  125.           using an XlaxNode.Cfg file, you may delete it.

  127.           Feature: MODEMSTRING inserts a special dialing prefix if

  147.           command and XlaxDiff to invoke (un)archiver sometimes munged
  148.           a few byte of stack or heap, causing lockups or strange
  149.           output.

  151.           Bug Removed: If a Seadog nodelist was produced in the same
  152.           run as a nodelist with Pursuit processing, then Seadog
  153.           nodelist received PCP baud rates and costs.

  155.           Bug Removed: PCP control file would sometimes be loaded when
  156.           not needed, wasting time and memory, but not affecting any
  157.           output files.

  160.           the program gave the "No Files Requested" error.

  167.                          Notes for XlaxNode 1.xx Users
  168.                            Upgrading to Version 2.xx
  169.  
  170.           NOTICE!  This version has major changes.  Many users will
  171.           have to change their control files to obtain the results
  172.           they are used to.
  173.  
  174.           The program now defaults to all output turned off.  You must
  175.           ask for every file you want.
  176.  
  177.           Major change in how OneZone/AllZones are handled.  Read docs
  178.           for this section carefully!
  179.  
  180.           Admin nodes from other zones are NOT included unless
  181.           selected.  You can select the entire zone, or just the admin
  182.           nodes with NET 2:2.  No more accidental international calls.
  183.  
  184.           This version does not include nodes from a zoned private
  185.           list (AlterNet/EggNet) unless that zone is selected via ZONE
  186.           or ALLZONES.
  187.  
  188.           All places where you enter a node number (BAUD, PASSWORD,
  189.           PHONE, GATE, HUB) now honor zones and default to your zone.
  190.           PASSWORD 2/0 does NOT password the zone 2 ZC!  Use 2:2/0.

  192.           The PUBLIST command no longer affects the names of any
  193.           output files.

  195.           The PURSUIT command no longer triggers any output.  It sets
  196.           defaults.  Request pursuit processing for each of nodelists
  197.           where desired.

  199.           The USERLIST and INTERLIST commands allow OPUS or SEADOG
  200.           sub-commands and default to OPUS.  Specify SEADOG if that's
  201.           what you want.

  203.           If you are asking for a NODELIST.BBS file, be sure to add
  204.           the FIDO, OPUS or SEADOG subcommand to the NODELIST command.
  205.  
  206.           You can create any or all of the output files in a single
  207.           pass.  User who ran multiple passes of the old program will
  208.           save time.
  209.  
  210.           QuickBBS Nodelists (including Pursuit scripts) and the
  211.           Binkley 1.50 Nodelist.Ext file are now supported.
  212.  
  213.           The Nodelist.IDX file can now be shared by Nodelist.Sys,
  214.           Nodelist.Dat and Nodelist.Ext.
  215.  
  216.           You have much greater control over what gets in your output
  217.           files.  You can select/exclude down to the net level.
  218.  
  219.           Node selection applies to ALL output files, including Opus
  220.           V6 and human readable nodelists.
  221.  
  222.           Memory allocation is more flexible.  DIAL, COST and PURSUIT
  223.           are the only arrays allocated at startup time.  All the
  224.           other stuff is stored in a hash table.  A number of keywords
  225.           have been removed from the XlaxNode.Cfg file.
  226.  
  227.           Running XlaxDiff with the UPDATE statement uses LOTS of
  228.           memory.  Don't even consider it unless you have 300-400K
  229.           available.  If you get error messages, run XlaxDiff outside
  230.           XlaxNode.
  231.  
  232.           The OpusList and OpusNew commands are gone.  See OldOpusList
  233.           and NewOpusList in docs.
  234.  
  235.           Opus V6 Modem type, Cost & Fee fields are supported.
  236.  
  237.           The USERLIST and INTERLIST commands now accept OPUS or
  238.           SEADOG to select output format.
  239.  
  240.           The equal sign has special meaning as a session password for
  241.           Opus V5 and is dropped for other nodelists.
  242.  
  243.           Opus V6 Pursuit processing now calls different scripts for
  244.           1200 and 2400 baud calls.  I'm convinced that one script is
  245.           all that is needed, some users feel two are required.
  246.  
  247.           The Global FIDO/OPUS/SEADOG switches are history.  The
  248.           NODELIST, USERLIST and INTERLIST commands accept
  249.           FIDO/OPUS/SEADOG as options on the respective commands.
  250.  
  251.           FrontDoor support is history.  The latest Frontdoor uses its
  252.           own nodelist compiler.  Ciao.
  253.  
  254.           The XlaxDiff "Error 2: File Not Found" Problem is kilt.
  255.  
  256.           Independent nodes are not supposed to be Private or Hold,
  257.           but they did happen and were host routed.  They are now
  258.           considered down and deleted from the nodelist.

  260.           Fixed truncation of passwords to 7 characters in NewOpus,
  261.           QuickBBS and Binkley.
  262.  
  263.           Errors in way GATEs were handled in Seadog Nodelist are
  264.           fixed, not that anyone had ever noticed.

  266.           Minor errors in Nodelist.BBS output file are fixed, not that
  267.           any noticed these, either.
  268.  
  269.           Cleaned up FidoUser.Lst when Alternet included as private
  270.           list, also gives preference to main nodelist addresses.

  272.           XlaxDiff will now archive the output nodelist upon request.
