  35.  selected from a list.  Reading all such available items can be time
  36.  consuming.

  43.  Files are programs you can download and try on your PC.  Typically, files
  44.  are games, utilities and productivity enhancement programs such as the
  45.  Silver Xpress Mail Reader.  Knowing what is all available can be time
  46.  consuming.

  53.  BBS mail is normally divided into categories LOCAL, FORUMS or ECHOS, and
  54.  NETMAIL.  If the category is not shared with another BBS, the mail is
  55.  known as LOCAL mail.  This chart illustrates how mail is normally divided:

  70. In the Main Section, you will have to JOIN or SELECT the MAIL Conference to
  71. read, or create mail on the BBS.

  75. By joining the conference, you effectively "selected" the conference as a
  76. mail area of interest.  The conference may be about Programming, Word
  77. Processing, Legal Matters, etc.  There are over 1000 different Forums or
  78. "echos" as they are some times called in the BBS world.  In order for the
  79. BBS to have these "Shared" forums, it must be part of a computer network.
  80. Each BBS will pass files and messages to one another.

  84. So if you enter a message in a LOCAL area, the message will not travel to
  85. other bulletin board systems.  If you enter a message in a ECHO or FORUM
  86. area, the message will travel across the network.  There is a special area
  87. called DIRECT MAIL or NETMAIL.  If you enter a message in the NETMAIL area,
  88. the message is sent directly to the BBS where the recipient is located.

  90. As illustrated, you can spend hours on the BBS reading local mail,
  91. participating in national forums or sending costly netmail to individuals.

  94. for you thus saving you time and money.

  108. Each BBS has special settings for the user.  The options allow you to change
  109. these settings.  The options include VIDEO selection, HOTKEY selection,
  110. LANGUAGE selection, Change in Name or Password, etc.

  118. Silver Xpress puts all the features you find in a BBS together and allows
  119. you to effectively search for mail and new files.

  121. Silver Xpress allows you to "Select" all the mail forums of interest
  122. and allows you to scan and collect new messages for reading while you are
  123. disconnected from the BBS.

  128. Once you have received the Xpress Mail packet, you may begin to logoff.
  129. If you have created mail, you can send it to Silver Xpress and Xpress
  130. will move it into the appropriate mail areas.

  134. You just collected a vast amount of mail in a short period of time.  Now
  135. you can use the Silver Xpress Mail Reader to read your mail.
