- INTRODUCTION
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- RGPF is a very easy to use file list utility for Renegade 1.x
- BBS Systems. RGPF creates a nicely formatted list of files that
- are the most popular downloads from your BBS. As the program is running,
- it informs you of the current file base being processed.
-
- The cost of RGPF is $10 (US funds). Include $5 shipping and handling
- for orders outside the United States. Add $3 if you require RGPF on a
- 3-1/2" disk. A completed and signed order form must accompany each
- order. The order form is found in the file REGISTER.FRM
-
- What does registration bring to me? You will receive a registered
- copy of RGPF on diskette. This will remove the [UNREGISTERED] line
- from RGPF. All updates of RGPF will be of no charge after you
- register your copy. Registration also brings you piece of mind
- knowing that you have supported someone's hard work.
-
-
- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Installation of RGPF is very easy! The program must be run from your
- main BBS subdirectory where Renegade.Dat is located. RGPF must find
- this file in the current subdirectory or it will not run.
-
- RGPF now supports internal configuration. By specifying a -C or /C on
- command line, RGPF will go into its configuration mode. After you have
- answered all questions for the configuration, it will generate your
- file list according to those instructions. Case for the command line
- parameter does not matter.
-
- RGPF requires a two line configuration file which tells it how to
- generate your list of available files. The name of this config file
- can be passed as the first command line paramter to RGPF. No extension
- should be included. If no config file name is specified on the command
- line, RGPF defaults to using RGPF.CFG. This file should be located in
- the same directory where RGPF.EXE is located. If this file is not found
- when the program is executed, RGPF will immediately go into its
- configuration mode. No more editing of text files. This makes things
- a lot easier.
-
- The config file should have the following lines in this order:
-
- 1) Name of output file. Do not include an extension, as RGPF will
- automatically add the .ASC extension.
-
- 2) Number of files to include in your list.
-
- You can now setup a second configuration file which lists all file bases
- not to include in the list of popular files. The name of this exclude
- file will be the same as the name of your config file, but with an
- extension of .OFF, and it should be located in the directory where
- RGPF.EXE is located. If this file is not found when RGPF excecutes,
- then it will assume that no areas are to be excluded. The default
- exclude file name is RGPF.OFF.
-
- When the configuration portion of RGPF is executed, it asks you to
- specify the areas that are to be excluded. This file is text, so you
- can edit it if you wish, but be WARNED - RGPF does a text match with
- each file area *.DIR file name that it finds in the exclude file
- against each *.DIR file name in your FBASES.DAT file. If a match is
- not found, even though that name is in the exclude file, nothing is
- excluded.
-
-
- You are all set! All you have to do now is run RGPF at the DOS command line.
- It will read the configuration file and create your file list accordingly.
