- 1 INTRODUCTION
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- RASTAT 2.3 is a statistical package for de BBS program Remote
- Access 2.00. RASTAT is able to produces several screens (19)
- with statistics. Because RA doesn't provide all information
- necessary for these statistics, RASTAT itself keeps track of
- various data. Therefore, RASTAT is probably one of the most
- extensive statistic packages around for Remote Access.
-
- RASTAT is public domain. This means, you may copy RASTAT
- freely, in an unmodified form. You are not allowed to make any
- changes. The copyright stays with the author. You are only
- permitted to use RASTAT for free.
- De RASTAT archive (name:RASTAT23.*) should contain the follo-
- wing files.

- The last version of RASTAT is always available on the RASTAT
- support site (AutoBase BBS, phone +31-5910-31626/34506).
- Usage of RASTAT is at your own risk. The author can and will
- take no be responsibity for any problems that appear by using
- RASTATon your system. The package is released as is. The
- author is not obliged to release future versions. Of course
- we will try to improve RASTAT in the future, and also consider

- 2 HISTORY
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- There are many statistical packages for Remote Access. But not
- in one of them I found what I was looking for. Therefore, I
- made a simple program to satisfy my needs. Other collegue
- sysops saw the screens on my BBS, and asked for the program
- that created them.
- I decided to create an official release of the program. Becau-
- se the 'UNREGISTERED'-messages in other packages irretaded me,
- I left it out in RASTAT. In the summer of 1991 I released the
- first public domain version.
-
-
- 1.0 17-Aug-91
-
- First dutch version for Remote Access 1.00 and 1.01. Produced
- 13 screens of statistics.
-
-
- 1.1 7-Sep-91
-
- A few minor bugs were removed.
-
-
- 1.2 21-Sep-91
-
- Because of changes in the filestructure of Remote Access 1.10
- it was necessary to make a few minor changes to RASTAT.
-
-
- 2.0 1-Sep-92
-
- Completely rewritten english version. The total of screens
- RASTAT is able to produce increased to 17. A seperate configu-
- ration program was added. All features are described in the
- next chapter.
-
-
- 2.1 / 2.2 (2-Sep-92/21-Sep-92)
-
- Bugreleases.
-
-
- 2.3 (18-Mar-93)
-
- RASTAT support the new file structures of Remote Access 2.00.
-
- Detailed version info will be reported in the file
- 'WHATSNEW.??'.

- 4 QUICK START INSTALLATION
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
-
- Chapter 4.1 will give you all information for a quick start
- with RASTAT.
- When you are updating RASTAT from a previous version (1.x)
- then also read chapter 4.2.
- Of course this chapter gives you only enough information to
- run RASTAT properly. When you want to get the most out of it
- you'll have to read the rest of this document.
-
-
- 4.1 Installation
-
- Just copy all files to one directory, for example '\RASTAT'.
- When your version of RASTAT was used before, it will probably
- contain statistics of the other user. You can set all statis-
- tic to zero with the -z switch. For more information see
- chapter 6.14.
-
- When you want to take full advantage of all of RASTATs opti-
- ons, you will have to add a few things to your events.
-
- First, run RASTAT with the -i switch after every caller. This
- will update the statistics for the usage graphs. Place it
- anywhere just after a user logs off. For example in the
- batchfile that also runs the BBS-program.
-
- First example batchfile:
- RA -P*P -B*B {run Remote Access}
- \RASTAT\RASTAT -i {update RASTAT statistics}
-
- When you also want to update several screens, you have to add
- those switches too. For example when you want to create a new
- lastcaller screen.
-
- Second example batchfile:
- RA -P*P -B*B
- \RASTAT\RASTAT -i -c
-
- Second, use a 24 hour event for updating the daytotal (of
- course only when you want to use it). Because RA doesn't keep
- this informatie you'll have to backup the userbase in this
- event. RASTAT will compare 2 userbases with a 24 hour diffe-
- rence. RASTAT will then calculate the dayresults (call,downlo-
- ads,etc.) out of it.
-
- First example 24 hour event:
- RASTAT -r {create daytotal screen}
- COPY \RA\MSGBASE\USERS.BBS \RASTAT {copy userbase to RASTAT
- directory}
-
- Many sysops sort their userbase every day. In that case RASTAT
- would normally not be able to produce the day results. The
- next example shows how to solve this problem.
-
-
- 6
-
- Second example 24 hour event:
- \RASTAT\RASTAT -r
- \RA\RAUSER -s
- COPY \RA\MSGBASE\USERS.BBS \RASTAT
-
- If you don't do it like this, you will get extremely high
- daystatistics (in the thousands).
- The last thing you should do is check the paths in the RASTAT
- setup program (CFGSTAT).
- These are the minimum actions to get RASTAT working properly.
- Just typing RASTAT at the DOS prompt will get you all of the
- RASTAT switches. Just type RASTAT -. and the screen of your
- choice will be created.
-
-
- 4.2 Upgrading from a previous version
-
- When you used one of the version 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2 you will have
- to install RASTAT all over again. Some switches were changed,
- so check your RASTAT-events.
- When you don't want to lose all your statistics, keep the
- files USERHOUR.DAT, USERDAY.DAT, USERWEEK.DAT and
- USERMONT.DAT. Copy these files in the new RASTAT directory.
- If RASTAT was installed in de RA directory, it is advisable
- to create a seperate RASTAT directory.
-
- When you are upgrading from versions 2.0, 2.1 or 2.2 you will
- have to replace the files RASTAT.EXE, CFGSTAT.EXE, CFGSTAT.EXE
- and *.LNG. RASTAT 2.0 and 2.1 users will also have to run
- RASTAT -zc once.
- After replacing the RASTAT.CFG file reconfigure your
- configuration with CFGSTAT.EXE. Because of some new parameters
- the old RASTAT.CFG file is not compatible with version 2.3.
