- Author's Note: Due to the introduction of Remote Access v2.0 and it's new
- file structures, this program's name has been changed to QuickFILES.BBS.
- This program is only compatable with the FILES.BBS type file structures.

- I run a very busy BBS in Florida and was fortunate enough to be a Beta tester
- for what the author called a Spacemaker program for RemoteAccess. At least
- that was the original plan. As time went on, Herman kept adding more and
- more features. I had been using VFAM to manipulate files, etc., with
- RemoteAccess until Herman added all the options that were available in VFAM
- plus his own unique features into RAS. Finally it resulted in the version
- you now have. Now in addition to the handy feature of quickly checking file
- dates in order to prepare them for being taken offline it does that and much,
- much more. In fact just about everything you could wish for.
-
- RAS is now the ultimate tool for manipulating your Remote Access file areas
- and has the ability to use 12 exterior programs of your choice. In my case I
- use Shez, Pkinsert, Qedit, Redate, Stripzip, Whereis, Stupendos, Vpic and
- Ziplab all available from a window when I choose "User Option" from the File
- mode Menu or use the associated function keys. However you are totally free
- to customize it within the RAS.CNF file by simply adding them with a text
- editor. Just type your preferences in over the samples.
-
- RAS is extremely user friendly because it's a simple matter to configure by
- replacing the sample directories in the .CNF file with your own BBS
- directories. I also have my configuration include a couple of work
- directories which makes it very easy to work with files offline and then move
- them into the appropriate directory when the work is completed.
-
- Another great feature of RAS is being able to enter your own default
- DESCRIPTION information to any file. Just enter the description in the
- appropriate .CNF line over the default line. Using the Search option from
- the Directory Menu will automatically prompt you for your choice of whether
- to add it or not. To delete a filename and description use the ALT D option.
- It leaves the program intact but merely deletes it from FILES.BBS.
-
- With the great option of running exterior programs from within Ras, it is now
- the most used tool in my system. For example, instead of running SHEZ from
- my path, I now prefer to use it through RAS because with the L)ocate feature
- I can find a program in an instant and then with one keystroke check it out
- with SHEZ.
-
- As RAS is so user friendly it requires very little instruction once you've
- customized your RAS.CNF with your favorite text editor. If you should run
- into a problem feel free to call my voice line at (813)726-9192.
