- A couple quick post-manual hints here:
-
- When writing bulletins the best way to do it is to:
-
- 1. Write the entire bulletin as you normally would with your
- favourite ASCII editor.
-
- 2. After the bulletin has been completely written and fitted (as
- not to extend past the right margin), turn OFF the word wrap
- function.
-
- 3. Go back through the bulletin and insert NewsFlash tokens (ie.
- colours, blink, steady, abort, etc)
-
- 4. Save bulletin as bulletin.x <- where 'x' is the number of the
- bulletin, either 1-9 or A-F.
-
- 5. Use the [pausetime=xxx] token ONLY on important bulletins - you
- don't want to piss the user off! 20 seconds is a good maximum.
-
- 6. Use the [fname] and [lname] tokens only when it is suitable. It
- usually looks phoney.
-
- 7. When someone important is logging on and you don't want to make
- them read all the bulletins hit function key F5 to force the door
- closed!
-
- 8. If you want the user to see the bulletin at EVERY login (I don't
- know why - it only turns them off and if they really want to read
- it again they can re-read it on their own accord) but if you do then
- it is recommended you simply use Maximus's normal method of doing it.
-
-
- Note: BULLETIN.1 has been provided as a sample bulletin.
