  11. WHAT IS MAXTOOLS?
  12. --------------------
  13. MaxTools are 17 seperate small "command-line driven" utilities for
  14. Maximus Sysops to enhance Maximus's performance.

  17. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  18. --------------------
  19. Maximus BBS
  20. A PC capable of running DOS
  21. DOS Version 3.3 or higher
  22.

  24. 1 MINUTE QUICK SETUP
  25. --------------------
  26. You downloaded MaxTools. You want to quick see what MT does so
  27. that you can decide whether or not it is worth your time. I know
  28. the feeling so let's get on with it.
  29.  
  30. Create an Environment variable called 'MAXIMUS' and point it into
  31. your maximus subdirectory. Example: SET MAXIMUS=J:\MAX
  32.  
  33. Next unarchive MT-EXES.LZH into a subdirectory that is in your
  34. path.  Enjoy the utilities! They all have help screens and tell
  35. you everything that you need to know.

  69. MaxCD will create a config file in your MaxTools\MaxCD
  70. subdirectory. You may edit this with your favorite text editor
  71. to configure MaxCd to your own liking.

  75. -------------------------
  76. MaxTools now supports combined file & message areas in one CTL file such as
  77. AREAS.CTL if you have your BBS set up that way. Note" INCLUDE statements
  78. are ignored.

  82. I now give back time to the other side for users of multitaskers
  83. that are actually fast task switchers such as desqview and others.

  85. External Help Menus (Optional)

  87. For those of you where English is not your native language
  88. I am providing external menu support for foreign translations.
  89. Enclosed is a MENUS archive file of external menus. Simply create
  90. a subdirectory under your maxtools subdirectory and dump these
  91. in if you wish to use them.

  93. Random Access Levels
  94. --------------------------------
  95. MaxRe is the new kid on the block bringing MaxTools up
  96. to 17 utilities. MaxRe will exit with a random error level
  97. within a range that you specify. Used creatively, it can add
  98. life to your BBS in a number of ways. After all, life is
  99. a random series of events. Isn't that what makes it interesting?

  102. MaxTools NewsLetter
  103. --------------------------------
  104. It is not actually a newsletter. People like you who find unique
  105. ways of using MaxTools can write small articles and if they are
  106. approved, will be included in this archive in future releases.
  107. We are kicking off this release with 2 articles.

  114. compliments of MXBBSNET. MXBBSNET is a network seperate from fido
  115. which deals with Maximus BBS SysOps and needs.

  121. Maximus BBS with MaxTools. The possibilities when combining MaxTools
  122. with themselves or other utilities makes the possibilities endless
  123. to what you can achieve.
