- The TW2002 Universe offers many options that are not
- * brought into the user's grasp. So you live in Ahmat Gragn
- but that name is outdated and should be called
- . Camelopardus? Or your home port is wrongly called T'xe
- and should've been called Rotterdam? Or you're Satan and
- . just invaded Rome and want to call it Hell? The only
- . middleman used to be your sysop. With KalWorks installed
- and running, no longer; Kal Durak will be your middleman.

- Commands to Kal:
-
- Kal accepts commodities such as fuel, organics, equip-
- ment, fighters, shields and credits for payment. He only
- accepts to take such commodities from a personal planet,
- so not corporate ones. Keep that in mind.
-
- Commands to Kal all follow a type of shorthand writing
- that must be understood properly. Kal doesn't like
- nonsense.
-
- Commands are : PL, NE, PO, IT, IN, AL, FE, LO and PB.
- - PL - Rename a planet
- - NE - Rename a nebula
- - PO - Rename a port
- - IT - InterTrade
- - IN - Informations
- - AL - Rent an Alien
- - FE - Hire a Ferrengi
- - LO - Loan from the Galactic Bank
- - PB - Pay back outstanding debts
-
- Valid currencies are : FU, OR, EQ, FT, SH and CR.
- - FU - Fuel Ore
- - OR - Organics
- - EQ - Equipement
- - FT - Fighters
- - SH - Shields
- - CR - Credits
-
- Suppose you'd send Kal the next message:
-
- PL 8 FU 23 Kalgan
-
- It means: Rename a planet, pay for it in FUel from planet
- 8. Planet to be renamed is planet number 23 and it should
- be called Kalgan. Remember that there are two planets
- here, 8 to pay from (a private planet) and 23 to rename.
-
- Of course PL 23 FU 23 Xcola can also be done. AND you can
- rename planets that are not your own, but you'll have to
- know the planetnumber and have sufficient currency on a
- private planet. Even Terra can be renamed.
-
-
- NE 64 FT 581 Yulver Yards
-
- Rename the nebula of sector 581 to Yulver Yards. Pay for
- it with fighters from private planet number 64.
-
-
- PO 8 CR 581 Rotterdam
-
- Rename the port in sector 581 to Rotterdam. Pay for it
- with credits from the citadel at planet number 8.
-
-
- IT EQ 500 6 70
-
- Transfer 500 holds of equipment from planet 6 to 70.
- Anything that can be moved will be moved, except for
- colonists and money. Kal will tax these transfers, see
- the KALWORKS.CFG file for the percentages. If this
- percentage is e.g. set at 10 by your sysop, 90% of the
- goods you specify for the transfer will be transferred,
- the other 10% will be added to Kal's own planet,
- naturally. Kal will not move colonists nor credits.
-
-
- IN Cherub Khala
-
- Inform Trader Cherub Khala about how many grudges the
- ferrengi hold against him/her personally (not against his
- or her corporation). This information is free of charge.
-
- IN
-
- Informs you yourself on the same thing. IN will always
- create a message, even if no grudges are set.
-
-
- AL 8 FU 10 EQ
-
- New in version 1.4 is that you can rent an alien. Aliens
- cannot do much, they can colonise only one planet, only
- to one unit and all the way until it's killed. Now an
- alien has a number of holds and an alien assigned to a
- planet will bring that amount of colonisers to that
- planet every day. If it's assigned to fuel, it will bring
- those colonisers to work on fuel production. It will
- continue doing so until destroyed. Aliens with less than
- five holds will never be assigned. Once Kal made a
- successfull deal with an Alien, you will get to know this
- alien's name. Remember that name, you'll only hear it
- once. The only way to know whether one of your alien has
- been destroyed is to read the newspaper. Once there are
- no more aliens to assign and you need one, kill one. It
- won't guarantee an alien on your next request but it will
- increase chances.
-
- AL 8 FU 10 EQ
- Will ask Kal to search for an alien, and if one is found,
- hire it to bring colonisers to work on equipement on
- planet 10. The cost of renting the alien will be payed in
- units of Fuel Ore from planet number 8, this last planet
- has to be a private planet. The other planet can be
- anything but planet number 1, Terra. Aliens assigned to
- Terra will start working on Ferrengal. If the price of
- hiring an alien isn't significant to you, you might try
- burdening other traders with overpopulation. There can be
- 40 aliens in the game and all 40 can be assigned. Ships
- that are not assigned have less than five holds and are
- rated worthless. Some ships can have over 100 holds, they
- are good bites for hunters but can completely over-
- populate planets they've been assigned to. So assigning
- aliens can also be used to strategically work to over-
- populating your enemies' planets.
-
- FE 8 EQ 500 Picard
-
- New in version 1.5 is that you can hire a ferrengi. The
- only thing a ferrengi can do is guard a sector and bear
- grudges on a trader. In this example, a trader called
- Picard will get a grudge on him. The ferrengi will
- operate from sector 500. Kal Durak made a deal on the
- 15th of december 2004 with the ferrengi boss, Mariciano
- Ferrengi. He will order the assigned ferrengi's back to
- their assigned sector daily. But the ferrengi are a lame
- bunch and will start moving again. However, ferrengi can
- now be strategically located and, given the payment of
- lots of items or cash, can be fencing in a player. The
- so-called ferrengi operating mode is not affected. Just
- attack an assigned ferrengi if you want it to be in
- attacking operating mode. Ferrengi's once assigned will
- continue their task until destroyed.
-
- LO 50000
-
- Requesting a loan is done by sending a message to Kal
- Durak, stating :
- LO 50000
- for a loan of 50000 credits. The maximum amount one
- client may loan is one million credits. Interest will be
- added daily at a rate defined in your sysop's
- KALWORKS.CFG.
-
- Paying back your loans is done by sending Kal Durak a
- message, stating:
- PB 34
- for a payback of your debt, to be subtracted from the
- citadel bank of (private) planet number 34.
-
- Not paying back will make Kal and the Galactic Bank
- resort to measures of increasing unpopularity after 10,
- 15, 20 and 25 days, respectively, until you have payed
- your debts or until such time that Kal has reposessed
- sufficient property.
-
-
- Kal, the player.
- It might just be that Kal owns a planet. It might just be
- that this planet will be moving around the universe, you
- might encounter Kal's tollfighters, you might kill Kal.
- For as long as the planet you took from Kal remains the
- configured Kal's planet, all payments to Kal will be
- yours, at that moment any payment to Kal will be free
- since you'll get it back immediately. Shooting Kal up has
- no consequences, he'll simply check out his hotel room at
- stardock and continue with his work. Kal can also inform
- the trader in the tavern about his activities, he'll also
- tell you each day how many ferrengi's and aliens are
- going to work. Also, check out the conversations in the
- bar, Kal might have interesting things to tell.
-
- How much to pay?
- This depends on the sysop of your TW2002 universe.
- Amounts can be set in the configuration file. The sysop
- can also set the value of the currencies. So if renaming
- a port costs 45000 credits and the value of Fuel ore is
- 15, then you'll pay 45000/15 is 3000 holds of fuel ore.
- The sysop should make his/her KALWORKS.CFG available for
- download.
-
- If you like this program very much, read the sysop docs
- and gimme some $$ for it, ok? Right on!

- Be on the lookout for some of my other TW2002 user
- program:
-
- TWS
-
- TWS is a TWVIEW Compatible TW2002 Universe
- Simulator, TWVIEW is a popular TW2002 user utility
- by Robert Weaver. TWS reads the TWVIEW database, and
- simulates the TW2002 universe's known sectors, warps
- and ports. It simulates the Holographic Scanner, it
- displays notes as beacons. It does not display the
- amount of planets, ships, and such, but that info
- can be added in a note. With TWS, it's as if you're
- online to your favourite universe, but without
- actually being online.
