-
- Example Batch File
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- A sample batch file similar to the following:
- ECHO OFF
- CD\DOORS\FEDJOBS <=- Switch to the door's Directory.
- FEDJOBS FEDJOBS.CFG <=- Execute the door program and pass the
- configuration filename to the program.
- CD\PCB <=- Go back to PCB DIR when user exits door.
- BOARD <=- Restart BBS.
-
- This Door is multi-node compatible so you may run more than 1 node from
- the same .CFG file provided the path to your system file (DORINFOx.DEF,
- CALLINFO.BBS, etc) is exactly the same unless you are using environment
- variables, (q.v.)
-
- Environment Variables
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- PCBoard automatically creates the %PCBDRIVE% & %PCBDIR% environment
- variables. Non-PCBoard systems may also use these variables by including
- the following in either your BBS batch or AUTOEXEC.BAT
- SET PCBDRIVE=C: <- Drive letter of your BBS files
- SET PCBDIR=\BBSDIR <- Path to your BBS files
- Then in your Door .CFG file instead of putting C:\BBSDIR\DOOR.SYS, you
- would put %PCBDRIVE%%PCBDIR%\DOOR.SYS. This allows you to use just one
- .CFG file for multi-node operation!
-
- To specify a non-standard IRQ, put the IRQ number after the .CFG on the
- command line. For example:
-
- FEDJOBS FEDJOBS.CFG /5
- or using the PCBDRIVE procedure: SET IRQ=5 and use
- FEDJOBS FEDJOBS.CFG /%IRQ%
-
- This tells the program to use IRQ 5 instead of the standard IRQ.
-
- Had reports of conflicts when using non-standard IRQ's on Novell/Netware
- systems. Seems Novell also uses the / character so something went screwy
- somewhere. So I added the * (asterisk) which may be used instead of the /
- in case of a conflict. In other words, /%IRQ% and *%IRQ% will both work
- and are interchangeable.
-
- When specifying the location of the system file on line 1 of the doors .CFG
- file, you may use the environment variables %pcbdrive%, %pcbdir%, %pcbnode%,
- and %wcnodeid%. Some examples:
- PCBoard:
- USERS.SYS in C:\PCB - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\USERS.SYS
- USERS.SYS in C:\PCB\NODE1 - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\NODE%pcbnode%\USERS.SYS
-
- Wildcat!:
- DOOR.SYS in C:\Wildcat\wcwork\NODE1
- - C:\wildcat\wcwork\node%wcnodeid%\door.sys
-
- Non-PCBoard systems may use the PCB environment variables by setting them
- in either AUTOEXEC.BAT or in the batch that runs the door. For example:
- SET PCBDRIVE=C:
- SET PCBDIR=\BBSDIR
- SET PCBNODE=1
-
- Fossil Driver Support
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- DoorFrame supports the use of Fossil drivers. To tell your Door to use the
- Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the command
- line when running the door. For example:
- MYDOOR MYDOOR.CFG /FD
- indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
- driver is detected, DoorFrame will print a message to that effect and exit
- the door gracefully.
-
- Sysop Keys
- ~~~~~~~~~~
- F3 - Toggles the printer On/Off. Value is passed to PCBoard and/or
- written to DOOR.SYS and USERS.SYS
- F4 - Toggles the Page Bell on/off. Value is passed to PCBoard
- and/or written to DOOR.SYS and USERS.SYS
- F5 - DOS Shell. Allows SysOp to exit to DOS from inside a DOOR.
- F7 - Toggles the Caller Alarm On/Off. Value is passed to PCBoard
- and/or written to DOOR.SYS and USERS.SYS
- F8 - Returns the caller involuntarily to the BBS.
- F9 - Toggles the local display On/Off. Value is passed to PCBoard
- and/or written to DOOR.SYS and USERS.SYS
- F10 - Activates SysOp CHAT mode within the DOOR.
- ESC - Deactivates CHAT mode. DOOR is resumed.
- UP - Give the caller extra time while in the DOOR.
- DN - Subtract time from the caller while in the DOOR.
- HOME - HELP key for Status Line options.
- ALT-N - SysOp next on toggle. Value passed to PCBoard. (PCBoard only)
- ALT-X - PCBoard will exit after current caller logs off. Value is
- passed to PCBoard. Not available on non-PCBoard systems.
-
- HELLO SCREENS:
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- You may make a custom hello screen for FedJobs if you wish. They must
- be called:
-
- HELLO.ANS - For the ANSI screen.
- HELLO.ASC - For the ASCII screen.
-
- Both screens must reside in your FEDJOBS directory.
-
- SYSOP STATUS LINES:
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- To turn off the SYSOP status lines (the two lines at the bottom of the
- sysop console while in the door), make a file called NOSTATUS.DAT and
- place it in your FEDJOBS directory.
-
- DOWNLOADING FILES:
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Users may download any listing that they EXPAND on while in the door.
- Here's what to do:
-
- 1. Create a file(s) in your BBS file database called:
- FEDLOG.<nodenumber>
- You may set this file up anyway you wish. For example, if you are
- running two nodes, you should have two files in your file database
- called FEDLOG.1 and FEDLOG.2.
-
- FedJobs keeps a log file per node of what each person expanded on
- while they were in the door. It doesn't matter how the file is
- setup in your BBS file database (date, size, etc.) the important
- thing is that it exists so the user may download the file directly
- through your BBS instead of through the door.
-
- 2. In your door batch file, after the door running command line you
- must copy the log file for that node to the file directory that
- contains that file. Here's my door batch file:
-
- ECHO OFF
- CD\WILDCAT\DOORS\FEDJOBS
- FEDJOBS FEDJOBS.CFG
- COPY FEDLOG.%WCNODEID% E:\FILE\TJ
-
- If you are using %-codes you may substitute the %node% command
- as I did above. If you don't, for each door batch file (per node)
- simply substitute the node number in. For example, if you are
- running a single node system your batch file may look like this:
-
- ECHO OFF
- CD\WILDCAT\DOORS\FEDJOBS
- FEDJOBS FEDJOBS.CFG
- COPY FEDLOG.1 E:\FILE\TJ
-
- You can also just copy all the logs at one time. I wouldn't
- recommend this, but you may try it. Your batch file may read
- something like this:
-
- ECHO OFF
- CD\WILDCAT\DOORS\FEDJOBS
- FEDJOBS FEDJOBS.CFG
- COPY FEDLOG.* E:\FILE\TJ
-
- The downfall of this is, if somebody is downloading the file
- FEDLOG.1 from node 1, and a caller from node 2 quits the door, the
- downloading file on node 1 will be overwritten (probably the exact
- same file/size/etc) but I don't know what harm this may do to the
- person downloading the file (file corruption, etc.).
-
- 3. Make a file in your FEDJOBS directory called DOWNLOAD.DAT. If this
- file exists, FedJobs will tell the person about the existence of
- the downloadable log file and the filename to download.
-
- SPECIAL ACCESS TO THE DOOR:
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Some sysop's may like this feature.
-
- By creating a file called GOODUSER.DAT and placing people's names
- within the file (one name per line) they may limit who has access to
- the door. If the users name doesn't appear in the file, they will be
- told to check with the sysop for access information. Alternately, you
- may create a GOODUSER.ANS/ASC screen that will be shown to users who
- don't have access explaining what they need to do! Filenames must be:
-
- GOODUSER.ANS - The ANSI screen.
- GOODUSER.ASC - The ASCII screen.
-
- Both screens must reside in the FEDJOBS directory.
-
- MAINTENANCE:
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- None required other than updating the job database.
-
- RUNNING FEDJOBS LOCALLY:
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Just type FEDJOBS LOCAL
