-
- - What is FDHist?
-
- FDHist is a door which allows your BBS callers, as well as
- yourself, to view recent front end mailer activity and other
- statistics managed by FrontDoor or InterMail.
-
- Someof the options which can be viewed through FDHist's vivid
- displays are inbound and outbound mail histories, last calls, and
- the day's statistics. By registering this program, you enable
- other options which include yesterday's statistics, weekly
- statistics, and multinode support for both FrontDoor and
- InterMail.
-
-
- - Front end mailer versions supported:
-
- - FrontDoor NC/Shareware 2.02, 2.11, and 2.12
- - FrontDoor Commercial 2.10, 2.20a, 2.20b, 2.20c
- - InterMail 2.28, 2.29
-
- Note: FDHist will presumably work with other versions of
- FrontDoor and InterMail but our testing could not
- sufficiently encompass other versions.

-
- - What's New In Version 2.00 Of FDHist
-
- In version 2.00 of FDHist we have added a significant number
- of new features and fixed several problems which were
- discovered in the 1.10 release version.
-
- Below is a summary of the noteworthy changes in version 2.00:
-
- - InterMail Support
- FDHist now supports InterMail directly. Because of this the
- InterMail specific product IMHist is no longer necessary.
- If you own a key to IMHist, please contact the author for a
- free upgrade key.
-
- - "Extended" SysOp Keys Filtered
- If you hit an "extended" key (ie: F10, arrow key, insert
- ALT-T, you get the point) the cursor would go to 1,1 on your
- screen. It now does not budge :-) -- FIXED
-
- - Lastcall - Outbound time/date
- On the lastcall screen, the outbound time/date would be the
- same as the inbound (oops!) -- FIXED
-
- - Added support for multitasking environments in both FDHist
- and the setup program.
- FDHist now gives time to these following environments:
-
- DESQview 2.26+
- TopView
- TaskView
- DESQview 2.00-2.25
- OmniView
- OS/2 2.x
- MicroSoft Windows 3.x in Enhanced Mode
- DoubleDOS
- MicroSoft Windows in Standard Mode
- MicroSoft DOS 5.0 / 6.0 / 6.2 Task Switcher
- MultiDos Plus 4.01
- VMiX 2.75+
- MicroSoft Windows NT
-
- Note: If none of the above are detected, it uses DOS's
- "idle" method.
-
- - Completely new internal communications routines
- - Standard serial ports, FOSSIL driven ports, and DigiBoard
- ports are now supported.
- - Communication ports 1 through 8 are now supported
-

-
- - The overall performance of all programs has been increased
- (Again!)
-
- - FDHist is now multinode active and aware.
-
- - Allows viewing of mail history up to 7 days old
-
- - New SysOp Menu
-
- - Display directories of specified areas of the system.
-
- - Ability to download any file on the system using ZModem.
-
- WARNING: BE SURE YOU HAVE THE SYSOP SECURITY LEVEL SET
- CORRECTLY!
-
- - Local shell to DOS support (via Alt-Z) in both FDHist and
- FDHSetup. Both programs will swap either to disk or EMS/XMS
- memory depending on which is available.
-
- - The door interface DOOR.SYS is now supported.
-
- - User activity logging
-
- - Extended or normal logging
-
- - Configurable log file
-
- - Configurable color of your choice when ASCII users enter
- FDHist.
-
- - New command line parameters and options:
-
- - /Cconfig.file File and path (path optional) to
- configuration file [DEFAULT = SETUP.FDH]
-
- - /L Local logon
-
- - /A ANSI (For local usage only)
-
- - /OVREMS Load overlay file to EMS
-
- The order which the command line parameters are specified is
- no longer relevant. All command line parameters are
- optional.
-
- - An overlay file added in order to reduce the size of the
- main executable program.

-
- - The registration information has been updated. A
- registration side is now available in Europe. See
- registration files for information
-
- - Possible additions to future releases:
-
- These are features which I hope to add to future versions of
- FDHist.
-
- - More statistics

- and more!
-
- - Multi-Lingual Support
- We are working on multi-language support for FDHist.
- English, German, and possibly Spanish will be available.
- We are already trying to please German speakers with
- German documentation thanks to Jens Fendler of Storm
- Watch Software Europe. Anyone willing to translate FDHist
- and its documentation to other languages is asked to
- please contact the author, Alan Jurison.

-
- - Legal Notice
-
- Neither the author, Alan Jurison, nor any other party involved
- in the creation of this program makes any guarantees as to its
- functionality. It has been tested and produced satisfactory
- results. However, there is no way to be sure it will work in
- all environments. Although I hope it won't, if FDHist formats
- your hard drive, causes a shift in the orbit of Jupiter's 12th
- moon resulting in severe snowstorms over the east coast of
- Somalia, influences government officials to raise taxes on
- candy bars, causes trucks to get wedged under bridges, or
- causes Syracuse NOT to get a monthly blizzard, through this
- disclaimer, I can not, and will not be held responsible. If
- you find that FDHist does not work properly, please don't
- hesitate, though, to let me know what the problem is. Be sure
- to tell me what kind of setup you are running, and perhaps I
- can fix it up in the next release.
-
- - Registration
-
- This version of FDHist is being released as shareware. This
- means that you are entitled to use and try out the program,
- but after a reasonable amount of time, you should register it.
- I have no way of forcing you to do so, and I won't pretend
- that I do. Registration will entitle you to additional
- features, which are not be available in the demo version (and
- in all likelihood will never be in the demo version).
- Registration will also eliminate a few beeps in the program.
- FDHist registration is only $10 US and discounts are available
- for group registrations.
-
- To register FDHist or for more information please see the
- registration form included in the archive and send it back to
- one of our registration sites. Your key will sent to you as
- soon as we can fire up the registration program!

-
- To install FDHist on your system, create a directory for the
- programs and extract the files from the FDHist archive into
- that directory.
-
- Execute the program FDHSetup to configure FDHist for your
- system. The options in the setup program are self-explanatory.
-
- - Setup Program
-
- Using the FDHist setup program is easy. To configure FDHist
- run the setup program FDHSETUP.EXE included in this archive.
-
- FDHSetup takes the following command-line Parameter:
-
- [SETUP.FDH] - The name and path of the setup file if other
- than SETUP.FDH. This is useful if you are
- running FDHist on more than one node.
-
- FDHSetup Menu Options:

-
- - Using FDHist with commercial versions of FrontDoor
-
- FDHist supports two methods of multi-node use in FrontDoor.
-
- - Executing all FrontDoor programs with the "/SHH" command
- line parameter. This will combine all history information
- into one file. This method is the easiest and was already
- supported in previous versions.
-
- - FrontDoor by default creates special files for all nodes in
- the home directory. FDHist checks the home directory, as
- defined in setup, for these files and will allow users to
- choose only nodes that have a history files available.
-
- Note: We have already been asked to support multinode usage
- with the FrontDoor 2.12.SW version. This would require
- running more than one copy of FrontDoor 2.12. This
- would be a violation of the following licensing
- agreement unless you have purchased more than one copy
- of FrontDoor:
-
- *******************************************************
- 3. FD may be used for a period of thirty (30) days on
- a trial basis to allow you to determine its
- suitability for your particular application. After
- this period you MUST register each copy of FD that
- you run simultaneously.
-
- 4. Registration entitles you to a non-transferable
- license to use FD and any future versions of FD
- for as long as you wish, subject to any special
- licensing conditions and/or applicable upgrade
- fees attached to future versions.
- *******************************************************
-
- This quote was taken directly from the file REGINFO.TXT
- which is included in the FrontDoor archive. The
- agreement identification is "FFHA194k."
-
- Due to this fact, I have decided FDHist will not
- support multinode usage for FrontDoor 2.12 or any other
- non-specific multinode usage regarding FrontDoor.
