-
- What is File Box?
- =================
- File Box is a private file utility created for spitfire 3.x
- It allows you the sysop to keep others from downloading a file
- that is just for one or a group of people.
-
- What is needed?
- =================
- This version of file box was created for Spitfire 3.x. It
- uses the DOOR.SYS file that spitfire Creates. It can be used
- as a logon door or as a door from the door menu. For Downloading
- you must have DSZ.COM or EXE in your path. If it is not found this
- program will not work. The Offline utility requires that you have
- ANSI.SYS loaded.
-
- What ar all these Files?
- ========================
-
- FBOX.EXE - This is to on-line door!
- FBOXU.EXE - Offline utility used to add private files
- FBOX.DAT - Data file used to store names and file for FBOX.EXE
- PRO.DAT - Used with Protocol Selection for FBOX.EXE
- FILEB1.DAT - ANSI screen used by FBOX.EXE
- SAMPLE.CFG - Sample config file (Can be edited)
- FBOX.LOG - Sample log file
- REGISTER.TXT - Registeration Information ONLY $5 Dollars!
- FBOXSF.DOC - This file!
-
- Why File Box?
- =============
- File box offers you some very nice features. First of all it is
- fast. If you have it setup as a logon door and the user does NOT have
- a private file it quickly shows a message to that effect and exits.
- This takes just a few seconds. File Box is colorful. It has ANSI
- screens. Users can download with Zmodem (Defult), Ymodem or Xmodem.
- File Box can write to your Spitfire Callers.log. It can even update
- users Ratios.
-
- How to Set it all Up!
- =====================
-
- Step 1. Create a directory for your File Box (C:\FBOX).
-
- Step 2. Unzip FBOXSF.ZIP into this directory.
-
- Step 3. Virus Scan your new files!
-
- Step 4. Edit the Sample.cfg file. See Sample.cfg for Instructions.
-
- Step 5. Decide if you want it to be a logon door or a door of the door
- menu. I would try the logon process first. Most of my users
- would never even look at the doors menu.
-
- SFLOGON.BAT (LOGON) SF.BAT (DOOR MENU)
- CD\FBOX DOOR_F
- FBOX FBOX.CFG CD\FBOX
- CD\SF FBOX FBOX.CFG
- CD\SF
-
- step 6. Use the offline utility to add private files.
- The command line for the offline utility is:
-
- FBOXU C:\SF\WORK
- ^^^^^^^^^^
- This is the path of your SFUSERS.DAT file!
- FBOXU.EXE uses it to check if users are in
- your Spitfire Callers Database.
-
- The offline utility will ask you for:
- Users Name
- Location of file
- Name of file
- Should the file be deleted
- Description of file.
-
- Please Note! This offline utility requires ANSI!
- For Desqview users load DVANSI.COM
- For DOS users load ANSI.SYS in your CONFIG.SYS
-
- Anything else?
- ==============
- File Box will update callers on-line time after a download.
-
- If you tell File Box to delete a file after a download and
- for soem reason the transfer was not sucessful the file and
- the entry in your data file will not be deleted.
-
- File Box will only do one file per time in the door. If you
- know what you are going to do more than one file I recommend
- that you zip them together.
-
