-
- Introduction
- ------------
- EZPEEK allows you and your users to "peek" into the contents of an
- archive and view selected text files within the archive. Many people
- find it helpful to be able to read the documentation contained within
- an archive before downloading it. EZPEEK can be used as a drop-in
- replacement for the standard Ezycom "View Archive" option.
-
-
- Installation
- ------------
- To install EZPEEK, simply create a directory for it and copy the
- distribution files to that directory.
-
- After the files are in their own directory, create a menu option for
- EZPEEK using EZYMENU. The required fields for the option are:
-
- Data: <path>\EZPEEK.EXE *M
- (where <path> is the drive/directory you installed to)
-
- Menu Type: 7
- (Menu Type 7 means "Shell to DOS program")
-
- You may want to put the menu option on the files menu, in place of
- the standard Ezycom "View Archive" option.
-
- Please be sure that the EZY environment variable is set correctly.
- Also, please make sure that TASK is set correctly if you are running
- on a multi-node system.
-

-
- Operation
- ---------
- EZPEEK requires the user to know the exact filename of the archive.
- The archive does not have to be in any particular file area. EZPEEK
- will enforce the security of the file path in which the archive
- resides. It will check for any appropriate security equivalence such
- as security level, flags, and user age. If the user does not qualify
- to view an archive, EZPEEK will behave as if the file does not exist.
-
- The following archive types are currently supported:
-
- .ZIP - Requires PKUNZIP 2.04 or later.
-
- .ARJ - Requires ARJ 2.22 or later.
-
- .LZH - Requires LHA 2.13 or later.
-
- The archiver for each format must be in the current directory or be
- accessible through the PATH environment variable. Earlier versions
- of the archivers may work, although they have not been tested.
-
- There must be enough disk space available to extract any particular
- text file. If there is not enough disk space, the user will be
- notified that an error occurred.
-
-
- Logging
- -------
- EZPEEK maintains a standard log file named EZPEEK.LOG in the
- directory where it is installed. This file records every use of the
- program, as well as any errors that occur. If EZPEEK is not working
- correctly, please check the log file.
