- ALARM
-
- This switch enables and disables the HOST speaker. When OFF a BELL (^G) will
- be sent to the remote, but will not sound on the HOST. When ON, the Bell
- will sound on both the HOST and REMOTE sytems.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- BOTTOM LINE
-
- This switch allows you to configure DOORWAY for better compatibility with the
- communication program being used on the REMOTE end. IT has several options:
-
- EXCLUDE TOP LINE and EXCLUDE BOTTOM LINE allow the the remote to display
- only in 24 lines. This is necessary if the remote has a status line.
- Since the HOST will have 25 lines, you will need to decide whether to
- elimiate the top or the bottom line.
-
- EXCLUDE LOWER RIGHT CHARACTER. Some com programs do not interpret the
- ANSI do not wrap line code. This causes the remote screen to scroll when
- the bottom line is written, when it should not. When this happens, updates
- on the remote will not completely overwrite the previous screen. When
- this switch is set the bottom right corner of the remote screen will not
- update on the remote system.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- COMMAND.COM
-
- Normally when DOORWAY loads a program COMMAND.COM is not loaded. This save
- a small amount of memory. However for a DROP to DOS remote session, or if
- you want to run a batch file from DOORWAY, COMMAND.COM must be loaded.
-
- DOS means that DOORWAY will load and execute your command intrepretor.
- A drop to DOS will be performed.
-
- VIA means that the command intepretor will be sued to load and execute
- the program file. This may be a batch file, or the program itself may
- require a secondary command interpretor to work properly.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- DISABLE DISK WRITES
-
- If you disable disk writes then the program running under DOORWAY will not
- be able to write to the disk. This is normally used for security.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- EXIT MESSAGE
-
- This is the name of a file created with a ASCII or ANSI editor. The file
- will be opened, and sent to the remote system upon termination of the program
- DOORWAY has loaded. Pauses can be put into the exit message by starting
- the line where you want the pause with a $:. Note that the $: MUST be preceded
- by a carriage return/line feed for it to work properly.
-
- FAST
-
- This is used when DOORWAY is running an action game. It should never be used
- for anything else. It will not move the cursor until there is a character is
- written. The purpose is to prevent wasting time moveing the cursor if nothing
- gets written. Except for action games in BIOS mode this switch should never
- be used.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- GRAPHICS
-
- This refers to ANSI GRAPHICS. ANSI will be used if you set this switch on,
- or if you are in direct video mode. If the remote terminal cannot support
- ANSI or VT100 emulation then this should be set to OFF. If you leave it blank
- DOORWAY will setting in the DOOR.SYS or PCBOARD.SYS file.
-
- ANSI is required for colors and for cursor addressing.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- HALT SHELLS TO DOS
-
- This switch will prevent the comspec (COMMAND.COM) from being loaded by
- the application. It should be used for security if the application program
- has a shell to DOS capability, and you do not want your users to have access
- to DOS.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- INITIAL WELCOME
-
- This is the name of a file created with a ASCII or ANSI editor. The file
- will be opened, and sent to the remote system upon execution of DOORWAY.
-
- Pauses can be put into the exit message by starting the line where you want
- the pause with a $:. Note that the $: MUST be preceded by a carriage
- return/line feed for it to work properly.
-
- A password may be added by starting a line with a P:PASSWORD, where PASSWORD
- is the password you want the user to enter.
-
- A menu can be created by starting a line with a M:.
-
- IE:
- M:Enter your selection:
-
- Refer to the documentation for additional information on using a menu.
-
- SCROLL THRESHOLD
-
- When in direct screen mode, DOORWAY compares the remote screen to the HOST
- screen. If more than 5 lines can be matched by scrolling the screen, DOORWAY
- will scroll the screen, then fill in the lines which have changed. If the
- threshold is set low, the remote scroll when there is no apparent reason for
- it to do so. If it is too high, the remote screen may be repainted entirely
- when a scroll and a couple of lines could have been painted. This switch
- changes the thresold from 5 lines. 25 will never scroll.
-
- KEYBOARD TIMEOUT
-
- This is the number of seconds DOORWAY will allow with no keyboard input
- from the HOST or REMOTE keyboard. After this time has elapsed with no input
- DOORWAY will terminate the program and exit. Default is 255 seconds, and
- 0 will disable keyboard timeouts.
-
- INSERT EXTRA LINFEEDS
-
- Some older ANSI.SYS drivers would do a blind scroll. This is usually best
- fixed by using ANSIPAT.EXE on your ANSI driver, or using PC Magazines ANSI.COM.
-
- If this switch is set ON then DOORWAY will attempt to guess when a blind scroll
- was done when in BIOS mode, and scroll the remote. If you are getting double
- line feeds at the bottom of the screen on the remote, turn this swithc OFF.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- MAXIMUM USER TIME
-
- This is the time in minutes the user is allowed in DOORWAY. If left blank
- defualt is 10 minutes, and if DOORWAY reads a DOOR.SYS or a PCBAORD.SYS file,
- the time will be the amount given in this file, unless overridden by this
- switch.
-
- This switch is only functional on registered versions of DOORWAYU.
-
- NETWORK OVERRIDE
-
- This switch will change calls to read a file into a network compatible mode.
- This may help if a program gets sharing violations when running on more than
- one window or computer.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- OVERRIDE OPENING SCREEN
-
- This overrides the large DOORWAY opening screen. It is functional only on
- the registered version of DOORWAY. The time delays can also be eliminated.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- PATH TO PROGRAM
-
- This is the path to where the program is. Remember that you may need to
- put in the drive and the \ for DOS to find the program. IE. C:\MYPROG.
-
- PROGRAM TO RUN
-
- This is the name of the program file to run. IT must end in .EXE or .COM
- unless the COMMAND.COM switch is set to VIA.
-
- QUICKBASIC
-
- This allows you to use BIOS mode with programs compiled with QUICKBASIC 4.0.
- Programs compiled with versions 1-3 should use BIOS mode, QUICKBASIC 4.0
- should use this switch and BIOS mode, and versions after 4.0 should use
- DIRECT mode. Use this switch ONLY for QB 4.0 programs.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- RETURN or BREAK CODE
-
- This code will cause DOORWAY to abort a program when entered from the host or
- remote keyboard. For instance, a ^K will break the program and exit DOORWAY
- when a control K is entered at either keyboard.
-
- .SYS FILE LOCATION
-
- This switch defines the location of the DOOR.SYS or PCBOARD.SYS file.
- Enter the path to the DOOR.SYS or PCBOARD.SYS file. Enter a * if there
- is no SYS file to be read. If left blank will look in the current directory
- for the .SYS file.
-
- CHARACTERS TO TRAP
-
- This is a sequence of characters to trap. Normal and control characters can
- be trapped. Extended keys cannot be individually trapped. Entering a ^@ will
- trap all extended keys. If specific extended keys, such as function, alt,
- and cursor keys need to be trapped, then use the xtable function to translate
- them to something harmless.
-
- USE MULTITASKER VIRTUAL SCREEN
-
- This switch when ON will use a multitasker's virtual screen address instead
- of the standard screen addresses. Use this switch if you have VIRTUALIZE VIDEO
- turned OFF in Desqview. If VIRTUALIZE VIDEO in Desqview is ON do NOT use this
- switch or the remote screen will be scrambled.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- VIDEO CAPTURE
-
- This should be set to DIRECT if the remote does not receive the HOST's screen.
- If you wish to switch between the modes with the capturing switch, you will
- need to set to either BIOS or DIRECT.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- VIDEO CAPTURE SWITCH
-
- This character will switch the HOST between DIRECT and BIOS modes. When
- switching from BIOS to DIRECT mode the remote screen will be redrawn.
-
- If left blank, no switch will be defined.
-
- WAIT
-
- This switch will cause DOORWAY to wait after the program terminates, until
- the user enters a key.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- TRANSLATION TABLE
-
- This is the path and name of the translation table. The translation table
- can be created by running XTABLE. It is used to translate user keystrokes
- to something different for the HOST program.
-
- PRINTER REDIRECTION
-
- Data sent to the printer on the HOST may be sent to the printer, dumped to
- NUL, or sent to the remote. If the remote does not support printer redirection
- then DOORWAY will dump the characters when remote is selected.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- RETURN MESAGE
-
- This is the name of a file which replaces the RETURNING TO BOARD message.
-
-
- REBOOT INSTEAD OF EXTERNAL ABORT
-
- If this switch is set, DOORWAY will reboot the computer on a carrier loss
- or user timeout instead of externally aborting the program. When under
- Desqview the INTERRUPT 19 switch should be set as well, or lockups could
- result.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- INTERRUPT 19 FOR REBOOTING
-
- Normally DOORWAY does not reboot on carrier loss or timeouts. However
- if DOORWAY is unable to break the program externally, or if the reboot
- switch is set then DOORWAY will reboot the computer. If this switch is
- set then DOORWAY will do an interrupt 19 for rebooting. This is normally
- done when running under Desqview, and in that case an int 19 will simply
- close the Desqview window.
-
- Do not use this switch if you are operating from ordinary dos. Dos tends
- to lock up on an interrupt 19.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- OVERRIDE 40 COLUMN MODE
-
- This switch will prevent a program from going into 40 column mode. The
- reason for this is that 40 column mode under desqview can create problems.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- CHANGE DIRECTORY TO APPLICATION
-
- If this switch is set then DOORWAY will change into the application directory
- prior to running the program. This is necessary for many programs to find
- their supporting files, such as the configuration file.
-
- If you are running a batch file from DOORWAY, then it is usually better to
- change any directories within the batch file itself with the CD \SUBDIR
- batch command.
-
- Use the left and rigth arrows to select options.
-
- NO CARRIER LOSS DELAY
-
- Normally DOORWAY will wait for carrier loss to be detected for 6 seconds.
- This prevents aborting the program from call waiting, or if the connection
- drops for a couple of seconds. If this switch is set true it will abort
- immediately upon detection of a loss of the CD signal. This is used with
- Galatacom on a null modem connection, where the CD is dropped for only about
- 1 second to signal DOORWAY to abort the application.
-
- Use the left and right arrows to select options.
-
- OPTIONAL TERMINATION CODES
-
- DOORWAY will normally attempt to externally abort a program on carrier loss,
- and user timeouts. However, some programs need to flush files, and do some
- maintnance prior to being aborted. If this field is not empty, DOORWAY
- will put requested characters in the buffer prior to attempting to externally
- abort the program. Up to 16 entries may be made. IE. If escapes back the
- program to the previous screen (from up to 4 levels depth), and a Q [return]
- Y [return] then exits the program, enter ^[^[^[^[Q^MY^M to make DOORWAY exit
- the program. (The ^[ is the escape character and the ^M is the return key).
