- Alpha 3000-3 / 18 February 1996
- -------------------------------
-
- - This version corrects an import problem associates with file request paths.
- Importing a configuration with an @filename in the request paths was adding
- a backslash at the end of the filename, causing requests to not work. As a
- side-effect, people weren't able to request from my system...
-
-
- Alpha 3000-2 / 18 February 1996
- -------------------------------
-
- - This is a pre-release alpha of the eventual 1.60 version.
-
- - The DOWNLOAD PATH can now be specified separately from the INBOUND
- FILES PATH in the DIRECTORY PATHS configuration screen.
-
- - The REQUEST PATHS may now be exported to a file. Following the same
- logic as SESSION PASSWORDS, the format "@filename" can be specified to
- allow any number of text files containing requestable directories.
-
- To automatically export your request paths to a text file, follow this
- procedure:
-
- 1. Move the cursor to the first line of request paths.
- 2. Press CTL-N to insert a line.
- 3. Enter @FREQ.LST (or whatever filename you want,) then
- press CTL-W to create the export file.
-
- All entries will be deleted as they are added to the file and this should
- free up RAM for each line moved out of your configuration.
-
- - Christopher Baker pointed-out that D'Bridge treated a "PVT" in the nodelist
- flags the same as if it appeared at the beginning of the entry. Apparently,
- this isn't the same thing, so I've removed the restriction that makes DB
- refuse to dial out in this situation. I don't really understand what is
- meant by listing the phone number and then saying "private" in the flags,
- but I'll just ignore that.
-
- - I hoped to have caller-ID support in this alpha version, but it will have
- to wait for the next one... I need YOUR help in doing this: I don't use
- caller ID here, so I need some users to send me a terminal-mode capture
- of what strings the modem sends when an incoming call is detected. If
- you could send me this information, along with a narative describing the
- timing and "which ring" D'Bridge would have to answer-on, I'd appreciate
- it. I will be adding a feature that can "hang-up" on unwanted callers...
-
- - Arthur Greenberg once again reminded me that DBUTIL SORT couldn't handle lots
- of areas. Upon further investigation, I found that there's no reason that it
- couldn't sort over 10,000 areas. It was a simple (well, uh...) bug in the
- sort routine that was the culprit. It always did (in theory) give an error
- if there was too many areas to sort. DBUTIL SORT now saves a copy of the old
- DBRIDGE.ADF file as BACKUP.ADF. It is up to the user to manually delete this
- if disk space is an issue. Also, sorting now examines the first 24 bytes of
- the description.
-
- - If you want to force D'Bridge to swap to disk instead of EMS when using
- a DOS shell, set the environment variable DB-EMS to NO. I need help in
- determining if this solves any problems.
-
- - Someone said that creating a NETmail message with a file-attach doesn't
- work - it sends out a 0 byte .REQ file. I can't duplicate this problem,
- so if anyone can send me a log excerpt and some information, I would like
- to fix it before the official beta version...
-
- Please make all comments relative to this version, and do them by direct
- NETmail or the internet.
