- ║ What is it? ║
- ╙───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╜
-
- A friendly, easy to use callback verifier, with many configurable
- options, such as bad and duplicate phone number scanning, LD calls,
- message posting, call collision detection and much more.
-
-
- ╓───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╖
- ║ CVSSETUP.EXE - Configuration program ║
- ╙───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╜
-
- CVS is very easy to install.
-

-
- System Information
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- ═══ BBS name
-
- The name of your BBS.
-
- ═══ Sysop name
-
- This is your name. When registering, it is
- imperative that you specify the name exactly
- as it appears here INCLUDING WHICH LETTERS
- ARE CAPITALS. For example the name 'Darryl
- Olthoff' and 'Darryl olthoff' are different
- Sysop names as the "O" is uppercase in one,
- and lower case in the other. The same goes
- for the System name above.
-
- ═══ Serial #
-
- Here you the serial number that was received
- with your registration code. Please ensure
- that this number is input correctly or CVS
- will still claim unregistered.
-
- ═══ Registration #
-
- Here you enter the registration number that
- was received with the purchase of CVS. If
- this code is entered incorrectly, then your
- copy of CVS will claim to be unregistered.
-
- ═══ Path to USERS.BBS
-
- This is where you enter the path to the user
- file. If the file does not exist in the
- path, you will be warned, however the change
- will be allowed.
-
- ═══ Path to JAMBASE
-
- The path to the jambase must also include
- the message area you would like the messages
- posted to. Once again, you will be warned
- if the file doesn't exist, but will permit
- the change.
-
-
- Data Checking
- ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- ═══ Check for duplicate numbers
-
- If you would like to check the phone number
- to the other users number, set this option
- to YES.
-
-
- ═══ Security level to check against
-
- When checking for duplicate phone numbers,
- CVS by default checks all users. If you wish
- to check for duplicate numbers against users
- with security levels greater than a certain
- number, you can change it by setting the
- environment variable to the desired number.
- If you do not set the environment variable
- duplicate numbers will be checked against
- users who have a security greater than or
- equal to 0. This used to be available only
- by setting an environment variable. If both
- environment variable and this is set, but
- contain different values then the variable
- set in the environment will be used.
-
-
- ═══ Action on duplicate numbers
-
- If you are checking for duplicate phone
- numbers, then there are three options. You
- can abort the CVS door, you can hang up on
- user, or you can let him continue with the
- door. The default is to ABORT the program
- if the user fails the duplicate check. This
- can only be changed in the registered copy
- of CVS.
-
-
- ═══ Allow user to change phone #
-
- This option lets you decide whether or not
- allow your users to change the phone number
- they will be called back at.
-
-
- ═══ Format of the phone #
-
- This option lets you decide the format of
- the phone number. You can format it with
- dashes, or let it remain the way the user
- entered it.
-
-
- ═══ Default Area Code
-
- The default areacode is the areacode that
- will be entered if the user does not enter
- an areacode.
-
-
- ═══ Modify comment field on a fail
-
- This option will modify the users comment
- field, indicating why he failed the callback
- verifier.

- LD Options
- ══════════
-
- ═══ Verify LD Callers
-
- If you don't mind calling the long distance
- to validate your users, the turn this option
- to YES. The default is to only call LOCAL
- numbers. This option can only be changed in
- the registered copy of CVS.
-
-
- ═══ Action on verified LD callers
-
- Once the user has verified his name, you can
- either let the user continue his call, or
- hangup. This option is only available in
- the registered copy of CVS.
-
- Phone Options
- ═════════════
-
- ═══ Dialing Method
-

- This option allows you to set how many times
- the user should be called. CVS will call
- user this many times, or until a connection
- is made.
-
- Callback Options
- ════════════════
-
- ═══ Validation Entry Type
-
- You can choose whether the user should enter
- their name or their password, when they are
- called back. The third option allows you to
- have the user enter their password, and have
- the password stored in the comment field.
-
-
- ═══ Entry attempts
-
- This allows you to set the number of times
- that a user can enter his name or password
- to verify with CVS.
-
-
- ═══ Passing Security
-
- This is the security level the user will be
- given when correctly verifying the name.
-
-
- ═══ Failing Security
-
- This is the security level the user will be
- given when incorrectly verifying the name.
-
-
- ═══ Subscription Days
- .
- This option will enter the subscription
- expiry date. If the value is set to 0 then
- no date will be entered. This feature is
- only available in the registered version of
- CVS. The default is 0.

-
- Environment Settings
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- ═══ SET CVS=DUPELEVEL:##
-
- When checking for duplicate phone numbers,
- CVS by default checks all users. If you wish
- to check for duplicate numbers against users
- with security levels greater than a certain
- number, you can change it by setting the
- environment variable to the desired number.
- If you do not set the environment variable
- duplicate numbers will be checked against
- users who have a security greater than or
- equal to 0. This will override the setting
- in the cvs.cfg file.
-
- ═══ SET CVS=COMMENT:YES/NO
-
- Comments will modify the users comment field
- to a description of why the number did not
- pass the check. It will let you know if the
- number was a duplicate number, a bad number,
- or a LD number, if you do not allow ld calls
- from your system. If you do not set this
- variable, then by default there will be no
- commenting. This will override the setting
- in the cvs.cfg file.
-
- Please use a space, a comma, or a semi-colon
- to separate the two environment variables,
- or the program may not operate as you intend
- it to.
-
- Remember that you can remove the environment
- variable after you run the program from a
- batch file. For example:
-
- @ECHO OFF
- SET CVS=DUPELEVEL:10,COMMENT:YES
- CVS %1
- SET CVS=
-
-
- ╓───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╖
- ║ CVS.EXE - The program ║
- ╙───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╜
-
- CVS can be run from any directory that you like. You must pass CVS
- the EXITINFO.BBS file so that it can access the users data. This is
- so that RemoteAccess will read back any changes made to the users
- statistics. The files that come with CVS should all be placed in
- the same directory, as CVS will look for them in the directory that
- the CVS.EXE file is in.
-
- In RemoteAccess this is how the command setup would look.
-
- *C /C C:\RA\DOORS\CVS.BAT *N *M
-
- This calls a batch file that will run the CVS door. The batch file
- is included in the archive.
-
-
- ╓───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╖
- ║ CVSSCAN.EXE - The program ║
- ╙───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╜
-
- CVSSCAN must be located in the same directory as the CVS.CFG file.
- CVSSCAN requires at least on parameter, and that is the name of the
- person to scan numbers against. The first and last name must be
- separated by an underscore "_". By default the program will stop
- once a duplicate number has been found, but an optional parameter is
- "/FULL" which will check the user against all of your users, whether
- a duplicate number is found or not. This program is useful when the
- user request access, but refuses to use the callback verifier.
-
- You can use a batch file to call CVSSCAN so that it is in your path.
- The batch file would look like this:
-
- @ECHO OFF
- C:\RA\CVS\CVSSCAN %1 %2
-
- This will run the file and pass the 2 parameters. If you only enter
- one parameter the %2 will not be used.
