- Crediter v.0.1: RA 2.xx Credit Increaser (c) 1995 Ryan A. Brown
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
- Crediter is FreeWare, but all rights are reserved!
-
- About Crediter...
- -----------------
- My RemoteAccess BBS runs on Credits. It's a great system for encouraging
- uploads, rewarding subscribers, etc. I had always liked the Credit system
- after using it on another board running different software, because it
- allowed me to upload files and write messages in order to gain credits
- instead of paying money (which I couldn't afford). So when I set up my
- BBS with RA 2.00g1, I wanted to use the Credit System. Well, I found a
- great utility from LlanoWare that updates the file base and assigns credit
- prices to every file, and RA lets you program in Menu options that will
- deduct flat rate or per-minute credits as well as an option in RAConfig to
- let you give credits to users when their files are downloaded. The only
- problem was in selling the new credits. I found that about half the
- people on my board wanted to upload to get credits, and the other half would
- much rather subscribe and get a whole bunch of credits to begin with. The
- problem was that the door program I use for selling subscriptions uses
- DOOR.SYS and will update the Security Level & Subscription date, but *not*
- the number of credits. This has always been a pain, as I have had to go
- through the log files and manually add credits to users accounts, and they
- don't get the satisfaction of being able to spend the the instant after they
- have bought them. So, I wrote Crediter!
-
- Legal Stuff...
- --------------
- Nothing is guaranteed with Crediter, except that it will take up space on
- your Hard Drive! Ryan A. Brown and the Catalina BBS aren't liable for any
- problems caused by Crediter! Sorry for this, but it had to be said. I
- really don't expect any problems at all with Crediter, as it's a fool-proof
- program and I use it myself! <grin>
-
- This archive may be distributed on CD-ROM, on BBSes, via the InterNet, and
- on any other type of file storage provided:
- A. It is not altered, changed or added to!
- B. It is distributed with all of the files included!
- C. No charge is made for its distribution.
-
- How to use Crediter...
- ----------------------
- Syntax for Nobyte is simple:
-
- C:\> CREDITER.EXE [FILENAME] [#]
-
- Where [FILENAME] is the *full name and path* of the EXITINFO.BBS file that
- you wish to update. Either something like C:\RA\NODE1\EXITINFO.BBS, or if
- you are in the same directory as the EXITINFO.BBS, then simply passing
- EXITINFO.BBS will work. [#] is the number of credits you wish to add.
- The program will output the number of credits the user currently has and
- tell you how many they are adding.
-
- History:
-
- v.0.1 -- This is it! It has been tested by me, and used by me, and
- works great WITH RA 2.XX Exitinfo.BBS files. Do *NOT* try
- this on any other type of Exitinfo.BBS files as it will
- most likely only mangle them. {g}
