  19. DESCRIPTION:
  20.  
  21.      Classified Ads is a full-featured Ad listing door with support for
  22.      most major BBS user drop files.  It supports DOOR.SYS,
  23.      USERINFO.DAT, USERS.SYS, PCBOARD.SYS, SFDOORS.DAT, DORINFOx.DEF,
  24.      TRIBBS.SYS, CHAIN.TXT, CALLINFO.BBS and GTUSER.BBS.
  25.  
  26.      Users may enter the door and list their ad with their telephone
  27.      number and a short description of the service they are advertising.
  28.      SysOps may use 10 different categories of their on choice in the
  29.      door.
  30.  
  31. SUPPORT:
  32.  
  33.      Support for Classified Ads is available from several sources.  Messages
  34. may be left on The Parole Board BBS in the "PAROLE Software" conference
  35. or the Mustang! BBS in the "PRIVATE" conference.  If you feel that a
  36. message is not satisfactory you may call me voice.  (919) 965-3600
  37. Please call before 9:30pm EST as I am an early riser and need to get my
  38. "beauty sleep".
  39.  
  40. NOTE:  *PLEASE* check your file name and paths very carefully.  Ninety
  41. percent of the calls I get, are due to an incorrect path or CFG file
  42. setup.  Read the following instructions carefully before calling.
  43.  
  44. UPDATES:
  45.  
  46.      Updates are FREE to registered users and may be downloaded from The
  47. Parole Board BBS, Mustang! BBS and various other BBS systems.  Once
  48. registered, CatList updates are free for life.  If you wish an update on
  49. disk, send $3 to the address listed above and specify the disk size.
  50.  
  51.     If you are in a hurry and do not want to take the time to logon,
  52. enter " PAROLE SOFTWARE NOW! " at the name prompt.  It will give you
  53. access to the PAROLE Software file & support areas.  Don't forget the
  54. "!" on "NOW".
  55.  
  56. REGISTRATION:

  58.       Registration is currently $15 and will entitle you to future
  59. upgrades.  I reserve the right to change the price in the future.

  92. On lines 12, 13 and 16, the trailing "\" is optional.  ADDOR.EXE will
  93. auto-detect it and act accordingly.

  99.  5.  Serial Number if registered.

  102.  8.  Path and name of Color bulletin. Be sure to add the name of the
  103.      bulletin that you want created on line 8 and 9.
  104.  9.  Path and name of ASCii bulletin
  105. 10.  Type of Bulletins (WC = Wildcat!3.x  PCB = PCBoard  N = ANSI/ASCii)
  106.      If you select the WC! or PCB type bulletins, you will only need to
  107.      supply a filename and path for the color bulletin.  You still must
  108.      include line 8.  You may leave it blank though.
  109. 11.  (Y/N)  Create the above bulletins.  This option ONLY works for
  110.      registered versions.  The bulletins are automatically created in
  111.      the DEMO versions.  They cannot be switched off.
  112. 12.  Path to ACTIVITY.LOG.  DO NOT put a filename on this line.  If you
  113.      are running Wildcat!3.x, ClassAds will write to the correct
  114.      ACTIVITY.xxx.  ClassAds will write to a file named ACTIVITY.xxx in
  115.      the directory you have specified if you are not running WC!.  The
  116.      "xxx" will correspond to the node number.
  117. 13.  If you select the option to have ClassAd write bulletins to a
  118.      separate directory, enter the directory path here. (Read DOCs for
  119.      further details.) See SPECIAL DIRECTORY INSTRUCTIONS below.  This
  120.      option is currently *ONLY* available to Wildcat!3.x systems.
  121. 14.  (Y/N) Create the bulletins in the special directory.  This option
  122.      ONLY works for the registered version.  These bulletins are NOT
  123.      created in the DEMO version.  They can not be switched on.
  124. 15.  (Y/N) Create the ASCii text file.  This file is automatically
  125.      created in the DEMO version.  It cannot be switched off.
  126. 16.  Path of the ASCii text file.  DO NOT put a filename here. ADDOR.EXE
  127.      will append "CLASSAD.TXT" to the path you specify. This path *MUST*
  128.      exist as this file is written in the DEMO version.
  129. 17.  "RIP" = Create RIP bulletins "N" = do not create RIP bulls
  130.  
  131. All 17 lines must be present in the CFG file.  The lines that are not
  132. needed or used, may be blank but, they must be there.
  133.  
  134. NOTE: There are 2 additional lines necessary when using GTUSER.BBS. Since
  135.       this file does not provide the ComPort% and NodeNum% variables, you
  136.       will need to add them to this .CFG file on lines 5 and 6
  137.       respectively.

  139. Classified Ads will operate on a multi-line BBS.  If you do not
  140. incorporate the environment variables defined below, you will need a
  141. separate CFG file for each node.  You must give each CFG its own
  142. distinct name.
  143.  
  144.      EX:  CLASSAD1.CFG   CLASSAD2.CFG   CLASSAD3.CFG
  145.  
  146. CLASSAD.LST
  147.  
  148.      You will need to edit the enclosed "CLASSAD.LST" and include the
  149. categories that suit your individual needs.  This file must contain 10
  150. lines.  Please use and ASCii editor such as Qedit to edit this file as
  151. some word processors add hidden control codes that could cause
  152. unpredictable results.   The maximum length of each line is 25
  153. characters.
  154.  
  155. SPECIAL DIRECTORY INSTRUCTIONS:
  156.  
  157.      This part is only available at the present time to WC!3.x systems.
  158. If, in the future, I can get some idea as to how to implement this on
  159. different systems, I will make it available.
  160.  
  161.  
  162. 13.  If you select the option to have ClassAd write bulletins to a
  163.      separate directory, enter the directory path here. (Read DOCs for
  164.      further details.)
  165.  
  166. To set this function up, you must enter your "Conference Definition"
  167. setup in MAKEWILD.  Create a message conference entitled "Classified
  168. Ads" or whatever title suits your fancy.  Give this conference its own
  169. Bulletin Directory path.  ADDOR.EXE will create the necessary
  170. BULLETIN.BBS and a bulletin for each record listed in the database.
  171. There is no special maintenance that the sysop needs do in this area.
  172. If a record is deleted in the database, ADDOR.EXE will delete the proper
  173. BULLx.BBS.
  174.  
  175. You will need to set the # of bulletins allowed in this area to the
  176. maximum number of bulletins that you expect.  ADDOR.EXE will allow up to
  177. 500 in the database.  WC! allows 999 in each bulletin conference.

  220. 14.  (Y/N) Create the bulletins in the special directory.  This option
  221.      ONLY works for the registered version.  These bulletins are NOT

  224. MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
  225.  
  226. ADDOR.EXE requires DOS 3.x and up since all files are opened in SHARED mode.
  227.  
  228. When using PCBOARD.SYS, ADDOR.EXE also accesses the USERS file.
  229.  
  230. When using USERS.SYS, ADDOR.EXE also accesses PCBOARD.SYS, PCBOARD.DAT and the
  231. USERS file.
  232.  
  233. The DOOR.SYS used by ADDOR.EXE is the standard 52 line GAP (tm) file.
  234.  
  235. The CALLINFO.BBS used by ADDOR.EXE currently contains 36 lines.
  236.  
  237. WILDCAT! EXTRA:
  238.  
  239. If ADDOR.EXE updates the Text file, it will write a 0-byte file to the
  240. door directory named, CHANGE.FIL.  If you use Transcan to update the WC!
  241. database, you can test for this file and only run TranScan when needed.
  242. Be sure to delete it after running transcan.  There may be utilities
  243. that will update the databases of various other BBS systems.  CHANGE.FIL
  244. is created whenever the CLASSAD.TXT is updated.

  254. Fossil Driver Support
  255. ---------------------
  256. ADDOR.EXE supports the use of Fossil drivers.  To tell your Door to use the
  257. Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the command
  258. line when running the door. For example:
  259.      MYDOOR MYDOOR.CFG /FD
  260. indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
  261. driver is detected, ADDOR.EXE will print a message to that effect and exit
  262. the door gracefully.

  264. Environment Variables
  265. ---------------------
  266. ADDOR.EXE supports COM 1-4 on the standard IRQ's - COM1/COM3 = IRQ4 and
  267. COM2/COM4 = IRQ3. If you wish to use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ
  268. number after the configuration filename. Let's assume your Door is
  269. called FOOBAR and you want to use COM1 and IRQ5. The command line
  270. passed to your Door would be:
  271.     FOOBAR FOOBAR.CFG /5  or
  272.     FOOBAR FOOBAR.CFG /%IRQ%  for the environment variable.
  273. The /5 tells ADDOR.EXE to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4 that
  274. is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard IRQ's.
  275.  
  276. When specifying the location of the system file on line 1 of the doors .CFG
  277. file, you may use the environment variables %pcbdrive%, %pcbdir%, %pcbnode%,
  278. and %wcnodeid%. Some examples:

  280.  PCBoard: 
  281.    USERS.SYS in C:\PCB           - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\USERS.SYS
