  9.     This short documentation file contains instructions for both NEW and
  10.     UPGRADE installations.  Please read the appropriate section in this
  11.     document carefully before attempting to install the mail door.  A "What's
  12.     New" section is included at the end of this file.

  29.     UPGRADE INSTALLATIONS
  30.     =====================

  32.     1)  Locate the file 100to310.exe.  This file should have been enclosed
  33.         in the main BW310SB.ZIP archive.  Copy this file to the directory
  34.         where your mail door is currently installed.
  35.  
  36.     2)  Get a directory listing of "*.PRM" in your Blue Wave Mail Door
  37.         directory.  If the only *.PRM file listed is "BWMAIL.PRM", you will
  38.         only need to run the conversion program once.  If your system is
  39.         configured with multiple door configuration files, you will need to run
  40.         the conversion program once for *each* .PRM file in the directory.
  41.  
  42.     3)  Run the program 100to310.exe -- this will upgrade your current data
  43.         files to be compatible with the new version of the mail door.  You must
  44.         run this once for each mail door configuration file (see step #2).
  45.         If the data file conversion is successful, you may delete 100to310.exe.
  46.         This program is no longer needed.

  48.     4)  Unpack the ENTIRE contents of BWMAIL.ZIP (enclosed within the
  49.         BW310SB.ZIP archive) to your current mail door directory.  The entire
  50.         contents of this archive need to be unpacked -- overwrite all files
  51.         with duplicate file names.
  52.  
  53.     5)  The following files should be deleted from your mail door directory,
  54.         as they are no longer used:

  56.                 *  BWDOOR.USE  (replaced with BWDOOR.DOC)
  57.                 *  BWUTILS.EXE (replaced with BWSETUP.EXE)
  58.  
  59.     6)  Check your BBS maintenance batch files for any instances of:

  61.                 BWUTILS PURGE nn
  62.  
  63.         This packs The Blue Wave Mail Door's user file, removing all users who
  64.         have not used the mail door in 'nn' days.  All occurrences of this need
  65.         to be replaced with:

  67.                 BWSETUP PURGE nn
  68.  
  69.         If you do not currently remove old records from your mail door user
  70.         file, this would be a good time to add it!
  71.  
  72.     7)  Run the new BWSETUP program to insure that the conversion completed
  73.         successfully.  Please be sure to check out the new "FidoNet->Internet
  74.         Gateway" menu item in BWSETUP.  There is both online documentation
  75.         (press <F1> at any time while in BWSETUP) and standard documentation
  76.         (BWMAIL.DOC) for this new feature.

  84.         will honor all security levels and flags present in the message in
  85.         compliance with the SuperBBS 1.17 documentation.  Messages addressed
  86.         to *EVERYONE* will be treated as "Personal" messages when viewed in the
  87.         mail reader.

  89.     *>  BWSETUP now includes extensive online help.  At any time while using
  90.         BWSETUP, press <F1> for context-sensitive help.

  93.         Blue Wave Offline Mail Reader version 2.20 or higher (and third-party
  94.         readers that support the BW 3.0 Packet Specifications) the ability
  95.         to easily address/send Internet E-Mail messages through standard
  96.         FidoNet NetMail.

  99.         new items when used with a mail reader capable of creating BW 3.0

  111.     *>  The mail door now includes an enhanced File Request mechanism, which
  112.         allows a user to download requested files at the same time they
  113.         download a mail packet.  In order for this to work, the user must
  114.         enter the mail door in "Interactive" menu mode, and must first perform
  115.         a reply packet upload, followed by a mail packet download.

  117.     *>  The mail door, when used with a BW 3.0 Packet compliant mail reader,
  118.         will now generate FidoNet ^aREPLY: kludge lines in EchoMail and NetMail
  119.         message areas.

  121.     *>  Enhanced the mail door internal protocol module to consume less time
  122.         slices under multitaskers such as DESQview and Windows 3.1, and
  123.         operating systems such as OS/2 and Windows 95.  Additionally, the
  124.         internal protocol module should yield much better transfer rates
  125.         with all operating systems and multitaskers.
