  10.     This short documentation file contains instructions for both NEW and
  11.     UPGRADE installations.  Please read the appropriate section in this
  12.     document carefully before attempting to install the mail door.  A "What's
  13.     New" section is included at the end of this file.

  20.     ** This mail door supports RemoteAccess v2.00, 2.01, and 2.02.  It does
  21.        not work with earlier versions or later Beta versions of RemoteAccess.

  35.     UPGRADE INSTALLATIONS
  36.     =====================
  37.  
  38.     The first step in performing this upgrade is to determine the version
  39.     number of the door that you are currently running.  If you are currently
  40.     running version 3.00, 3.01, or 3.02 of the mail door, you may proceed with
  41.     the upgrade installation.
  42.  
  43.     If you are running a version earlier than 3.00, an upgrade installation
  44.     is not possible.  You will need to perform a new installation of the mail
  45.     door into an empty directory.
  46.  
  47.     1)  Locate the file 300to310.exe.  This file should have been enclosed
  48.         in the main BW310RA.ZIP archive.  Copy this file to the directory
  49.         where your mail door is currently installed.
  50.  
  51.     2)  Get a directory listing of "*.PRM" in your Blue Wave Mail Door
  52.         directory.  If the only *.PRM file listed is "BWMAIL.PRM", you will
  53.         only need to run the conversion program once.  If your system is
  54.         configured with multiple door configuration files, you will need to run
  55.         the conversion program once for *each* .PRM file in the directory.
  56.  
  57.     3)  Run the program 300to310.exe -- this will upgrade your current data
  58.         files to be compatible with the new version of the mail door.  You must
  59.         run this once for each mail door configuration file (see step #2).
  60.         If the data file conversion is successful, you may delete 300to310.exe.
  61.         This program is no longer needed.
  62.  
  63.     4)  Unpack the ENTIRE contents of BWMAIL.ZIP (enclosed within the
  64.         BW310RA.ZIP archive) to your current mail door directory.  The entire
  65.         contents of this archive need to be unpacked -- overwrite all files
  66.         with duplicate file names.
  67.  
  68.     5)  The following files should be deleted from your mail door directory,
  69.         as they are no longer used:

  71.                 *  BWDOOR.USE  (replaced with BWDOOR.DOC)
  72.                 *  BWUTILS.EXE (replaced with BWSETUP.EXE)

  74.     6)  Check your BBS maintenance batch files for any instances of:

  76.                 BWUTILS PURGE nn
  77.  
  78.         This packs The Blue Wave Mail Door's user file, removing all users who
  79.         have not used the mail door in 'nn' days.  All occurrences of this need
  80.         to be replaced with:
  81.  
  82.                 BWSETUP PURGE nn
  83.  
  84.         If you do not currently remove old records from your mail door user
  85.         file, this would be a good time to add it!
  86.  
  87.     7)  Run the new BWSETUP program to insure that the conversion completed
  88.         successfully.  Please be sure to check out the new "FidoNet->Internet
  89.         Gateway" menu item in BWSETUP.  There is both online documentation
  90.         (press <F1> at any time while in BWSETUP) and standard documentation
  91.         (BWMAIL.DOC) for this new feature.

  102.         Blue Wave Offline Mail Reader version 2.20 or higher (and third-party
  103.         readers that support the BW 3.0 Packet Specifications) the ability

  105.         FidoNet NetMail.

  108.         new items when used with a mail reader capable of creating BW 3.0

  120.     *>  The mail door now includes an enhanced File Request mechanism, which
  121.         allows a user to download requested files at the same time they
  122.         download a mail packet.  In order for this to work, the user must
  123.         enter the mail door in "Interactive" menu mode, and must first perform
  124.         a reply packet upload, followed by a mail packet download.

  126.     *>  The mail door, when used with a BW 3.0 Packet compliant mail reader,
  127.         will now generate FidoNet ^aREPLY: kludge lines in EchoMail and NetMail
  128.         message areas.

  130.     *>  Enhanced the mail door internal protocol module to consume less time
  131.         slices under multitaskers such as DESQview and Windows 3.1, and
  132.         operating systems such as OS/2 and Windows 95.  Additionally, the
  133.         internal protocol module should yield much better transfer rates
  134.         with all operating systems and multitaskers.
