- History of BShow
- ----------------
-
- 05-09-92 - 1.0 - Initial release. After 1 full year of development and about
- 8 months of beta testing, it's finally ready!
-
- 05-18-92 - 1.01 - A couple of bug fixes, plus elimination of delay. Now
- freeware - not shareware.
-
- 06-10-92 - 1.02 - Added support for abnormal file compressors such as PAK...
- If you tried to configure BShow for PAK, you know what I
- did.
-
- 06-25-92 - 1.10 - Completed port to C++, and added nested archive viewing.
- Also, the load time has been decreased dramatically, while
- still retaining the self-check on the EXE file.
- Seems very stable... As usual, many minor bug fixes, and a
- few minor enhancements.
-
- Also, added 'T'oggle option when viewing a file. This let's
- the user go into binary view mode when in normal view mode
- and vice versa. Of course, some characters are stripped
- when going binary->normal, but that's the way the
- cookie crumbles...
-
- 01-24-93 - 1.11 - Added cfg file tweaks to setup for use with PKZip 2.04c
- and to add ARC support for CD-ROM users stuck with that
- format.
-
- 07-01-93 - 1.20 - Some problems fixed. Nesting now works better. Sample
- cfg file has had more tweaks. This was like a beta, but
- open to all.
-
- 08-08-93 - 1.21 - No bug fixes. Doc's updated, etc... End of open beta.
-
- CURRENT LONG-TERM OBJECTIVES (MAYBE THIS CENTURY...)
- ----------------------------------------------------
-
- I am in the midst of several other projects right now, but I plan to add
- some form of support for self extracting EXE's soon. Maybe that'll go
- with the rewrite I'm planning. The rewrite that may or may not happen
- will turn BShow into more of a "shell" for the programs YOU write.
- A mini (easy to use) programming language will be implemented in which
- you get to control the output to the screens 100% etc... The end result
- of this would be a highly configurable program. Of course, it would come
- preconfigured for ZIP, ARJ, LZH and PAK still, but you could easily
- change these. No programming would be necessary to use the defaults.
-
- Let me know what you think of these ideas people.
