- BBSTrivia and WhoCalled is owned by ME, Bill Fink
- PCBoard is owned by Clark Development.
-
- As with ALL BBS utility packages, this utility you are using
- at your OWN risk. I make this ONE statement, I write NOTHING
- to PCBoard's associated files. NOTHING! Chances of something
- going wrong with this utility is just about the size of a
- NULL STRING.
-
- BBSTrivia is crippled in NO WAY.
-
- - Registration cost? None!
-
- BBSTrivia is a utility that I use to give my BBS users a
- little "Trivia" in their session.
-
- * * If You Use The "PPE" Portion Of BBSTRIV, You *MUST* Add An
- Environment Variable To Your BOARD.BAT File(s). Add This Line
- To Your Batch File. (Of course d:\directory being where you will
- place BBSTrivia)
-
- SET TRIVHOME=d:\bbstriv
-
- Using the executable:
-
- I post the question that BBSTriv generates in the script0.
- (The BBS LogOff Script - or place it in your NEWS file) I then
- add the notice, after the posted question, if they would like
- to see the answer to that day's question, to check out
- bulletin xx. Let's face it, they may NOT want to see it so why
- force it on them. (Bulletin xx contains the question, a pause,
- then displays the answer to that Trivia question.)
-
- I post these bulletins using PCBoard's " % [d:\file] "
- display feature. (If you don't understand the above
- sentence; PCBoard, when it sees the percent sign followed by
- drive letter, colon, backslash and "filename", will display
- THAT file in "filename" to the BBS caller. Neat, huh!)
-
- I run BBSTrivia in my event, so the question is always a
- different one for each day of the year.
-
- BBSTrivia is a SIMPLE utility that has three command line
- parameters.
-
- proper syntax:
-
- BBSTriv "command"
-
- where command=EDIT or RANDOM or SEQUENCE
-
- BBSTRIV SEQUENCE will go through the database, taking the
- next question in numerical *SEQUENCE* from the database and
- posting two files to your drive:
-
- BBSTRIV.QUE
- BBSTRIV.ANS
-
- where these files are the questions and answers for that
- record in the database respectively. (Once the end of the
- database has been reached, the sequence will start again
- from record #1.)
-
- BBSTRIV RANDOM will go through the database, taking a
- question at *RANDOM* from the database and posting two files
- to your drive:
-
- BBSTRIV.QUE
- BBSTRIV.ANS
-
- where these files are the questions and answer for that
- record in the database respectively.
-
- BBSTRIV EDIT allows you to do just that, edit the questions
- and answer database. Just run BBSTRIV EDIT and note it's
- fairly simple to move around, make your changes, add
- question(s) and answer(s), and pack/delete entries in the
- database. The options are listed at the bottom of the
- screen. Really, it's very simple.
-
- I've started this package out with enough questions and
- answers for a 200(+) day period. After that, either you can keep
- the users reading the same old questions and answers over
- again, (By letting the sequence begin again) or you can
- call me and say "hey Bill, I love this stuff, any more
- newer questions?" or you could type new questions and
- answers on your own.
-
- I think this utility warrants you to AT LEAST call, mention
- you're using it, to keep me programming more.
-
- From the maker of WHOCALLed! WhoCalled, a PCBoard(r)
- bulletin utility that allows a PCBoard SysOp to generate a
- bulletin for their users. The bulletin displays the previous
- XX callers, Date, Time, Name, City, Speed, FilesUP,
- FilesDOWN, MsgsLeft in the bulletin. (Check out my bulletin(s)
- # 17,18, and 47 when you call to register this program.)
