- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- If you had a version of BBSList before v1.30, then this is a LOT different!
- Now, you and the user's (if they have ANSI) can use their arrow keys to
- scroll through the BBS List! And it still works with Ascii-only users!
-
- Installation
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Installation for BBSList is very simple. First, copy all of your BBSList
- files to its own sub-directory. Then run BBSCONF.EXE to enter the info
- about your BBS and BBSList options. If you want to set-up the Download
- option, run PROTO.EXE (See Below). Once you've gotten that done, BBSList
- is installed!
-
-
- Starting BBSList
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- BBSList Supports these types of drop files:
- DOOR.SYS
- DORINFO1.DEF
-
- You can start BBSList in two ways: First, you can start it with one of the
- drop files. Here is a common batch file to do this:
-
- @Echo off
- Copy Door.Sys c:\ra\bbslist
- cd\ra\bbslist
- bbslist.exe
- cd\ra
- exit
-
- You can do it this way, or you can do it with a command line:
-
- BBSLIST.EXE <First Name> <Last Name> <Security Level> <Time Left>
-
- There is no advatage to which method you use.
-
-
- Multi-Node Support
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- BBSList has FULL MULTI-NODE SUPPORT! This means you can load it as many
- times as you want without any problems! And there is no extra work!
- However, you MUST use dropfiles, not the command line! All you have to
- do is copy the new dropfile over the existing dropfile! That's all!
- BBSList has been tested with it loaded 4 times, and there were no
- problems at all!
-
-
- Remote Sysop Functions
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- To go to the Remote Sysop Menu of BBSList, type ";" from the Main
- Screen. Your security must be equal to or higher than the Sysop Security
- you supplied in BBSCONF. This will take you to another menu where you
- have more options to choose from. Here is a description for each of these
- options:
-
- 1. DELETE <No> - This deleted BBS Number <no>. If you do not supply a
- number, it will prompt you for the bbs you want to delete
- and then delete it.
-
- 2. DELALL - This allows you to start with a fresh BBS List. It will
- first make sure you want to delete all the BBS, and if you
- say yes, you WILL NOT be able to get any BBS Info back!
-
- 3. EDIT - Allows you to Edit a BBS by <no>. It differs from the Main
- Menu EDIT by letting you edit ANY BBS, not just one you
- entered. If you do not supply <no>, it will prompt you.
-
- 4. VALIDATE <User> - This command puts <User> in the OKAY.DAT file. If a
- user is found in this file, they may enter one more
- BBS to the database. (Someone with Sysop Security can
- enter as many BBS' as they want)
-
- 5. SYSGRANT <User> - Puts <user> in the SYSOPS.CTL. Anyone in this file has
- complete sysop access. This means they can get in the
- Sysop Menu and Enter as many BBS' as they want.
-
- 6. QUIT - Takes you back to the Main Screen.
-
-
- Sysop Keys
- ~~~~~~~~~~
- Here is a listing of all the Sysop Keys available to you while a user is
- BBSList:
-
- Alt-C - If the User has Ansi, it takes you into the BUILT IN SPLIT SCREEN
- CHAT! If the user does not have ansi, it takes you into the line
- chat. While in chat, You can type F1 to toggle between chat modes.
-
- Alt-D - Tells the User they are Out Of Time and dumps them back to the BBS.
-
- Alt-J - Jumps to DOS, Type EXIT to Return to BBSList
-
- Alt-S - Toggles Snoop Mode On/Off. If Snoop is on, it clears the screen
- and directs all output to the modem and not to your monitor. If
- Snoop is Off, it directs output to the modem and your monitor.
-
-
- Downloading
- ~~~~~~~~~~~
- BBSList has a built-in download procedure. To use this, type "D" from the
- Main Menu. If you haven't defined any protocols (See Below) this feature
- will be disabled.
-
- PROTO.EXE
- ~~~~~~~~~
- There is a program in the BBSList archive called PROTO.EXE. This is a
- utility for the download part of BBSList. Since BBSList has no internal
- File Protocol support, you must define an external file protocol. To do
- this:
-
- 1. Go into PROTO.EXE and type the Number of the Protocol you want to edit.
- 2. Enter the Protocol Name.
- 3. Enter the Command Line. This can be a batch file or an EXE File. On the
- Command Line, you can use these Directives:
- *P - Current Com Port
- *B - Current Baud Rate
- *L - Short for BBSLIST.TXT
-
- BBSLIST.TXT
- ~~~~~~~~~~~
- This is a readable text file BBSList makes whenever a user downloads the
- BBS listing or exits BBSList. If you don't have an external protocol or
- you just don't like the built-in download, you can add a line to your batch
- file to copy this file to a file area on your regular BBS.
-
- Registration
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- BBSList is Shareware. This means you can try it out for a period of 30
- days. If you like it and would like to keep using it, please send in the
- small registration fee. Registering entitles you to many things. It
- gives you the right to use it for as long as you wish and takes away the
- short pauses in the program. It also entitles you to all future versions
- of BBSList for Free! To Register, all you need to do is send a $10 check
- or money order along with the registration form (Included in the BBSList
- archive). The key will be sent to you through the mail on a 3.5" floppy
- disk along with the current version of BBSList. I GUARANTEE YOU YOUR KEY
- WILL BE MAILED WITHIN A WEEK OF ITS ARRIVAL TO ME!
