  9. NOTICE TO USERS CONCERNING VIRUSES; LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

  13. A "virus" is a computer program which is deliberately engineered 
  14. to corrupt or hinder operation of a computer system. Such 
  15. malicious programs are occasionally written for unknown 
  16. purposes. The criminal codes of virtually all states specifically 
  17. prohibit the creation or distribution of malicious computer 
  18. programs.

  21. The @001 BBS examines all files prior to their posting for access 
  22. and download by use of the following methods:

  29. Although these methods are accepted within the experts in the 
  30. computer community, it is possible that despite the proper use of 
  31. the techniques described above that a program which contains 
  32. malicious code may escape detection. Users are encouraged to make 
  33. regular back ups and use such virus detection software as they 
  34. may feel is appropriate.

  37. Normally, programs are contributed by users. Accordingly, 
  38. programs are not "beta tested" and the description, which is 
  39. normally provided by the person contributing the file may be 
  40. inaccurate. Accordingly, programs may fail to operate due to 
  41. hardware/software interaction or programming decisions (sometimes 
  42. known as "bugs.")

  45. The @001 BBS will not willfully distribute viruses or other 
  46. malicious programs, and will report to proper authority users who 
  47. attempt to do so. If a user of this system believes that a file 
  48. which they obtained through this system is a virus or malicious 
  49. program, a private message to the SYSOP should be left as soon as 
  50. possible. If any program is proven to contain malicious code or a 
  51. virus, it will be deleted from the system.

  54. In consideration of the use of this system, all USERS ACKNOWLEDGE 
  55. THAT THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES AS TO MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR 
  56. A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR OTHER U.C.C. WARRANTY GIVEN AS TO FILES 
  57. AND USERS ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE SUCH STEPS AS THEY 
  58. DEEM NECESSARY TO PROTECT THEIR SYSTEMS.
