-
- Unzip the LeStrip distribution ZIP into your mail tosser directory, or a
- directory in the path.
-
- Edit the LESTRIP.CFG file to define your nodes and character remapping.
-
- You are limited to One node per line (maximum of 20 nodes) and a maximum
- of 256 Remap statements.
-
- NB !! The character mapping facility is extremely powerful - you can truly
- mess up a message if you start messing around with these - imagine this -
-
- Remap=a,b
- Remap=b,c
- Remap=c,d
- etc.
-
- Make sure you want it to remap those characters.
-
- You must then configure your mail processor/front end to run LESTRIP each
- time a packet is received.
-
- This is how it is done in Gecho =>

- Since I do not use FMail, I am unable to say how to set it up.
-
- That's it - it's real easy to setup, takes less than a second under a window
- in Desqview on a 486/DLC-40 to identify a packet if it needs to be processed,
- and it's FREEWARE ;)

-
- Well, here in Zone 5 we had a small little problem. A certain system, which
- shall remain anonymous, had been running on Fido for a couple of years, had
- registered their programs as such -
-
- « SomeOther Bulletin Board »
-
- so when people entered messages, the bottom of the message would come out as
-
- ■ QWKMail vX.XX
- « SomeOther Bulletin Board »
- * Origin: SomeOther Bulletin Board, South Africa (5:7107/XX)
-
- which, in accordance with Fido policy, is a no-no due to the High Ascii in
- the messages.
-
- All of a sudden, after not having a problem for four years, they are
- moderated for this ASCII in their messages. There were a few solutions
- offered by everyone - Close down the node, make messages read-only or
- re-register (at great expense) all the programs.
-
- However, since Gecho has a lovely little option to run a program before a
- packet is processed, and I was the hub for the above mentioned node, I
- pulled out my fingers and did a constructive solution => LESTRIP was
- born.
