- How it started....
-
- For many years I have been interested in the mechanics of human
- conversation. Whilst browsing through a BBS one day I came across
- "shampage" and got rather excited about it! There is a psychology
- challenge running to develope a machine which will converse with a
- human so well that the human cannot tell that they are talking to a
- machine. This challenge is known as the Turing test. So, coming across
- shampage with its faults I contacted the author to discuss
- improvements. He declined to respond to me and so BBSCHAT was born.
-
- BBSCHAT was created as part of a serious program of psychological
- research into human conversation. I have no regrets that it is a fine
- entertainment, but I would be interested in any feedback you might
- like to supply on the serious side of it.
-
- In the meantime, have fun....
