- History File For Alley-Wall -- ALLEY-WALL (c) David Pabst 1990-1993
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- Version 2.11 - August 1993
- - Alley-Wall Setup Upgraded (AWSETUP.EXE), version 1.8. Fixed bugs.
- - Alley-Wall Bad User Upgraded (AWBDUSER.EXE), version 2.7. Fixed bugs.
- - Removed setup for AWSETUP.EXE's interface.
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- Version 2.1 - February 1993
- - Modified information screens.
- - After bulletin is entered, and while its being inserted, AW displays
- messages about what's happening.
- - Colors during the preview were not exactly what they were in
- the final bulletin; this has been remedied.
- - Alley-Wall Setup has been upgraded to version 1.7
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- Version 2.01 & 2.02 - August 1992
- - AWSETUP.EXE has some new safety features so Alley-Wall will run the
- first time it is run.
- - Alley-Wall wouldn't run, because of a bug in AWSETUP.EXE. That's
- fixed now! New Setup Version: 1.6
- - AWBDUSER.EXE had a bug, when you tried to view the AWBDUSER.LST and
- it didn't exist; AWBDUSER would crash.
- - My name came up every time as the username, this is now remedied.
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- Version 2.0 - July 1992
- - Alley-Wall now keeps a file on people who have used Alley-Wall, this
- list is PEOPLEON.LST; If they are not on this list, Alley-Wall displays
- a "features" list.
- - Setup program has UPGRADE.EXE included in it in case something happens
- to UPGRADE.EXE.
- - New feature for easy upgrades; by typing UPGRADE at the DOS prompt
- you will automatically upgrade your 1.5x\1.6x configuration file
- to version 2.0. (You must have a 1.5 or 1.6 config file)
- - If you are in non-graphics mode (ASCII) and you try to view the SYSOP
- bulletin (See who did it file) you will receive a message stating that
- you cannot view it in your current mode.
- - The sysop command for deleting the Sysop File, a.k.a Delete"See Who Posted
- What File" was removed. Now, when you delete the bulletin files, (K
- command) it will delete the sysop bulletin as well.
- - Alley-Wall now can be set to only allow a certain number of bulletins
- in it at one time. For instance, if you set it to 25, and the 26th is
- entered; the oldest entry would be dropped.
- - New bulletin entries can be placed at the beginning of the "Alley-Wall"
- or you can still have new entries appended to the end of the wall.
- - Alley-Wall Bad User Utility (AWBDUSER) now can display AWBUM which is
- displayed when someone in the bad user list logs on. If that file
- is missing it just displays the one-line message in the config file.
- - Colors can be used in bulletins.
- - Alley-Wall will strip blank spaces from bulletins, thus saving space
- - Rewrote lots of the visual text in information, et cetera.
- - In "see who wrote what" file it now posts the time and date of the post
- in the colored seperation bar.
- - Alley-Wall now stamps the time and date on to the bulletin when it is
- reset or Alley-Wall is used for the first time. It also stamps
- which way Alley-Wall is configured to append new entries on to the
- bulletins. (New on top, or New on Bottom (New on bottom is what all
- the previous versions were)).
- - New registration system, sorry about all the changes; this will be the
- last registration system change.
- - The whole bulletin entry system is totally rewritten. For ASCII users
- it's basically the same, but for ANSI users... it's MUCH different.
- - "Display configuration File" command now shows the users who have
- access to the system operator commands, sort which way, and max number
- of entries in bulletins.
- - More code optimization; Alley-Wall was originally produced when I was
- learning how to program in Pascal. Now that I am fluent in Pascal,
- it helps to optimize the program for speed, and it makes it easier for
- me to upgrade Alley-Wall at a later time.
- - Alley-Wall Setup has been upgraded. Current version: 1.5.
- - In Alley-Wall Setup: "Changes and Upgrades" is a new feature that
- displays this file with a multi-directional scroll. New option
- added for whether you want new entries appended to the top or the
- end of the Alley-Wall.
- - In Alley-Wall Setup: A new editor prompt that keeps from exceeding its
- boundries.
- - In Alley-Wall Setup: Online help has been included as well as *MANY*
- small changes not worth mentioning.
- - Alley-Wall bad user utility upgraded. Current Version: 2.5.
- - In Alley-Wall Bad User (AWBDUSER): Now checks to make sure a name
- was entered, multi-directional listing of AWBDUSER.lST, *MUCH* better
- interface, and the entry prompt now keeps you within the prompt.
- - In Alley-Wall Setup: Help added! 3 pages of help are now available
- within the setup program itself. Press H or F1.
