  1. Please read the documentation carefully before installing ALAB. Any
  2. problems/suggestions please leave me a mail at MultiMedia GS or in the
  3. MMP_SUPPORT (Fido) echomail area available in Zone 6 or via 1:381/84.

  5. To upgrade from previous versions of ALAB, you just replace all the old
  6. files with the new ones and read through the documentation (especially
  7. WHATSNEW.126) for any changes. Take note especially of the ALAB.CFG file
  8. changes.
  9.  
  10. Special notes for RA 2.00 sysops:
  11.  
  12. If you are using RA 2.00, rename the file ALAB4RA2.EXE to ALAB.EXE and
  13. use it instead. Also, if you are using RA2FAST mode, put ALABPRE.EXE
  14. into the virus scanning program field in RA 2.00. First parameter the
  15. filename (ie macro '@'). Second parameter '*N'.

  17. Steps to install ALAB on RA 2.00 systems:
  18.  
  19. 1. Rename ALAB4RA.EXE to ALAB.EXE
  20.  
  21. 2. Change the 'System' option in ALAB.CFG to 'System RA2' or 'System
  22.    RA2FAST'.
  23.  
  24.    ( RA2FAST mode will only scan files uploaded during a particular
  25.      session, RA2 mode will scan any new files found in the current upload
  26.      directory )

  28. 3. If using RA2FAST mode, you need to add in the following line to the
  29.    virus scanning program field in RACONFIG:
  30.  
  31.         <path>ALABPRE.EXE @ *N
  32.  
  33.    For RA2FAST mode, you will need to create a separate menu for ALAB
  34.    scanning. Create a menu (eg UPLOAD.MNU, and DOWNLOAD.MNU), which will
  35.    be called when the user presses the key for upload or download. In
  36.    this menu, add in the normal file upload (or download) menu command,
  37.    followed by a type 7 menu command (automatic) that will call ALAB:

  39.         <path>ALAB.EXE /A<file upload area number> *M *!
  40.  
  41. 4. If using RA2 mode, simply add the following line into the Upload
  42.    Scanner field in RACONFIG:

  44.         <path>ALAB.EXE /A<file upload area number> *M *!
  45.
