- ADDTODAY v1.00 README.DOC 04/05/95
-
-
- NOTE: Enter COPY README.DOC PRN to print this file. It is formatted to
- print 2 pages with approximately 50 lines per page.
-
-
- CAUTION: ADDTODAY performs a self-test for viruses and/or tampering on
- startup to insure that you have an unaltered program. You cannot use an
- executable file compressor such as PKLITE on ADDTODAY or it will fail its
- self-check and overwrite itself.
-
-
- ADDTODAY runs with DOS 3.0 and above on an IBM compatible PC, and should
- perform in a DOS window with other operating environments as well. There
- are no known incompatibilities. The minimum free disk space required is
- the size of the input file (twice the size will be needed if a minimum
- number of descriptions to add is set and not met by the random "day of
- month" selection, resulting in a second pass). A list of the files which
- should be included with this package can be found in PACKING.LST. Please
- insure that you have everything. Refer to HISTORY.DOC for any changes
- since the last version you may have seen. For a description of ADDTODAY's
- features, please see ADDTODAY.DOC.
-
- This distribution version has two registration "reminder" screens. The
- first screen displays for approximately 10 seconds before ADDTODAY starts.
- If any key is pressed, the delay is shortened to about two seconds. When
- ADDTODAY finishes running, a prompt appears to print the registration form
- and ends after 7 seconds if no response is made. During unattended batch
- operation, around 17 seconds will be added to the time required for each
- ADDTODAY execution. The distribution version will also randomly run like
- the registered version. A "beep" sounds and a "run as registered" message
- is displayed very briefly. Registering ADDTODAY removes the registration
- reminder screens (please see REGISTER.DOC for the two registration plans;
- discounts with the full registration plan are discussed on the next page).
-
- Fully registered users will also receive on their disk a group of utility
- programs for miscellaneous purposes. These small programs are added as I
- encounter various situations where I need to perform a specific function.
- Presently they include: DISKFREE (reports free disk space quickly), LINES
- (counts the number of lines in one or more text files), WORDS (counts the
- words), REPLACE (locates and prompts to replace selected text in files),
- TRIMBLNK (removes trailing spaces from one or more text files), and DELINE
- (removes a selected line or lines from a text file). Also included is a
- MISC unit for Pascal programmers with various functions that either Turbo
- Pascal forgot or make it easier to access some of the built in functions.

- PRODUCT DISCOUNTS
-
- With a full registration, you are entitled to a discount of up to 50% on
- your next purchase of any HAL SoftWare products. Here is how it works.
- You will receive 50% off the price you pay for your next purchase on an
- equal or lesser value product or products. If the total amount (does not
- include any taxes or shipping and handling) for your next registration is
- more than the price for this software, you may deduct 50% of the fee paid
- for this purchase. For example, if you paid $40 for this program and your
- next purchase is $40, you may deduct $20. If your next registration costs
- $30, then you will pay $15. However, if your next software total is $50,
- you can still take $20 off, or 50% of the cost for this software.
-
- This discount can also be applied immediately when registering more than
- one product at a time, whether they are the same product(s) or different.
- For instance, if the full plan price for this product is $40 and you are
- also purchasing two other products at $20 each (their total cost is $40),
- you can deduct $10 from the fee on each one's registration form. They can
- be either full or basic registrations, but a full registration plan bought
- at a discount cannot be used to discount the price on another purchase,
- e.g., if the $20 fee for one of the other products above was the full plan
- price and you paid a discounted $10 price for it, you could not then apply
- $5 of its cost as an additional discount on the third product.
-
- Where the discount amount line asks for the last full registration serial
- number, just insert the name of the accompanying fully registered product
- (if there is no "discount" line, include the information in the "comments"
- section). If your additional registrations totaled $30, e.g., one for $10
- and another for $20, then you could deduct $15 from their price, $5 on the
- first and $10 on the second. In the case where an additional purchase is
- $50, a total of $20 could be deducted, such as, if one item is $10 and the
- other costs $40, take $5 off the first and $15 off the second (or $20 off
- the second and nothing off the first, especially if its $10 fee is for the
- full plan, which would then be eligible to discount a future purchase).
