- ANSIBull 2.2 - Important Information!
-
- This is a *minor* upgrade for ANSIBull. Better memory handling was required
- and I did some fixes to allow better use of the memory available. The size
- of the executable file was cut by a bit more than 13K. If you plan on using
- WildEdit, make sure you have 550K of memory available to ANSIBull for shelling
- and running WildEdit. I know, they are memory hogs, but the versions I am
- currently writing will handle memory MUCH better and will not need as much to
- work.
-
- If you are upgrading from ANSIBull 2.1, just place the executable file from
- this archive into your current ANSIBull directory and delete the old version
- executable file. Run it as normal at this point using the new executable
- name.
-
- *Upgrading From Older Versions of ANSIBull*
- If you are upgrading from 2.02, all you have to do is place the version 2.2
- ANSIBULL.EXE file in the current directory you have 2.02 in, plus the file
- ABULL.KEY and you are good to go. Otherwise, delete your current version
- and place this new version in that directory.
-
- *NOTE* If you are a registered user of ANSIBull you can call my BBS for your
- key file.
-
- [ Other Important Notes ]
-
- Upgrading from 2.01 or older version
-
- With the new update to ANSIBull (2.2), you have a couple of extra options to
- configure to be ready to use it. It's simple and will only take you a moment.
-
- Step 1.
- DELETE THE FILE ANSIBULL.CFG! Then execute ANSIBull. It will install the
- correct configuration files you need for the 'Bull to operate properly.
-
- Step 2.
- DEFINING EXTERNAL STYLES
-
- When you select CONFIG at the Main Slider Menu, you are now presented with an
- additional option - External Styles. Select this option and enter in up to
- 20 name (DOS VALID NAME FORMAT!) for the styles you have created in ANSIStyle.
- If you only have 1 or two, just press Enter through the rest of the options
- and you will be asked if you wish to save it.
-
- Step 3.
-
- USING EXTERNAL STYLES
-
- When you elect to GENERATE your newsletter, you are now presented with 3
- new options. Number one, the ability to use any text file on your system
- to generate the display file from. Enter the path, then the filename (or
- just press ENTER for a pick list of files available on the path you just
- entered - then use the Up/Down/PgUp/PgDn keys to choose a file, then
- Enter to select it). The text file is left AS IS so you can use it again
- or update it for future use.
-
- Next 2 options: Use INTERNAL Styles or EXTERNAL styles. Internal styles
- are built-in to ANSIBull and the Externals are those you have created using
- ANSIStyle. Move the highlight bar to the option of your choice and press
- Enter. It looks the same as before after that until you are finally
- presented with the name of the style you would like to use (you entered
- these in Step 1, above). Move the cursor to the one you want and hit
- Enter and your display file will be created.
-
- *NOTE*
- Registered users of ANSIBull can have up to 20 defined external styles.
- Non-registered versions will only allow 2.
-
- *IMPORTANT!*
- When you generate a display file created using an EXTERNAL style, the only
- file generated is an ANSI display file! MONO and TEXT files are NOT
- created! I will be working this for a future release, but this release
- will be available to REGISTERED users only.
