- ~fHOW TO MOVE IN THE LAND
- ~4=----------------------=
-
- ~e MAIN MENU
-
- ~2 When you first start the game, you are presented with a menu of choices
- represented by a letter. The choices [~fP~2]lay and [~fQ~2]uit also have the keys
- ~fEnter~2 and ~fEsc~2 associated with them respectively.
- At this point in the game, you can also configure the game to colors of
- your liking, as well as write messages to other player, challenge other
- player, or when times are rough kill your self ([~fS~2]uicide).
-
- ~e MAP LEVEL
-
- ~e The map level is where you will be most of the time. To travel across
- the land, you will need to have your numeric key-pad in the on position
- at all times. To turn it on, press the key labeled ~fNum Lock ~2in your
- keyboard.
- Most keyboard have the numbers 8, 4, 2, and 6 labeled with an arrow key
- as well. It is important for you to know that the keys 7, 9, 1, and 3
- are also used in the game to achieve diagonal movement. Usage of those
- keys is necessary in many parts of the game that can not be traveled
- otherwise. Also, it is recomended you use them as much as possible to
- travel the land in as few steps as possible. Each time you move, you
- have chances of being in battle, therefore, the less you move the fewer
- battles you'll be in!
-
-
- ~4=---------------------------=
- ~fHOW TO READ THE PLAYING AREA
- ~4=---------------------------=
-
- ~e THE MAP
-
- ~2 The map of the land is located at the upper left corner of the screen
- and occupies most of the viewing area. The meaning of many items is
- already revealed to you, but there are many more items for you to
- interact with that are not known to you. You must find their meaning,
- but do not be afraid to explore, there is no 'bad' items in the land.
-
- ~e YOUR ATTRIBUTES
-
- ~2 Located in the upper right area of the screen, are your attributes.
- This information is vital to your survival and you must learn to read
- it. They have been color-grouped for your convinience.
-
- - First, you see the type of player you are -in case you forgot-
-
- - The first color-group, gives you information about your level,
- money, and experience points. Experience points are needed to
- increase in level, which is rewarded by a chance to study at any
- community college, to raise you 'vital' attributes. There is a total
- of 24 levels available to registered versions of the game,
- unregistered versions, are limited to level 5. As far as money, you
- will know what to do with it.
-
- - The second color-group, displays your 'vital' attributes and it looks
- like this:
-
- ~bST: 18 ~2 [~fSTRENGHT:~2 used for calculating damage]
- ~bLK: 16 ~2[~fLUCK:~2 Encounter mutations less frequently and of
- lower levels. Good at gambling]
- ~bDX: 22 ~2[~fDEXTERITY:~2 Determines your hit/fail ratio]
- ~bMN: 34 ~2[~fMANA:~2 Amount of spell points for Rogues and Wizards]
- ~aHP: 30 ~2[~fHIT POINTS:~2 Perhaps the most important attribute
- of all! When it reaches ZERO, you die.
-
- Mana points are regenerated with time or using a healing potion.
- If you see many 'What a feeble shot, you missed' messages, your
- dexterity is too low and you should correct this situation as soon as
- possible.
- With lots of strength, you will do lots of damage even if you fought
- with your bare hands.
-
- - Then, you find the message ~4HPotion=~fYES~2 or ~4HPotion=~cNOT, ~2healing
- potions are found at alchemist's temples -for a price- or can
- be found (about 10% of the time) in the bodies of your dead foes.
-
- - Lastly, you see your current weapon, armor, and shield. You need
- need not worry about their attack/defense values, when you find
- a better item, it will be transfered to you automatically.
-
- - The last part of this section is not an actual attribute, but could
- be considered one: is the time you have left on the game.
-
-
- ~e THE MESSAGE AREA
-
- ~2 All the interaction of the game is displayed here. Watch this area
- carefully, for a lot of messages will be displayed once only and there
- is almost always lots of usefull information in them.
-
-
- ~4=-------------------------------------=
- ~fMOVING AROUND THE LAND. EXTENDED HELP.
- ~4=-------------------------------------=
-
- ~e WHILE EXPLORING
-
- ~2 Moving around the game is accomplished with the numeric-key pad located
- at the right of your keyboard. Make sure the NUM LOCK key is on.
- To interact with the world, move towards the person or item you want to
- interact with and things will happen depending on the item you are
- touching. Watch the message area for important information.
- Understanding the messages is a key to sucessfully playing this game.
- Many things or people in the game have more than one thing to say, so
- it pays to re-visit some of them. As long as your path is not
- obstructed by a wall, you can move in any direction you wish. Walls
- are represented by the solid block '~f█~2' everything else has a different
- meaning which you have to find out. Do not be afraid of exploring,
- there are no 'bad' items in the land; however, your response or
- reaction to them may not be good for your health.
-
- ~e WHILE IN BATTLE
-
- ~2 As you explore the countries of the land, sometimes you will be
- attacked by the many mutations available to stop you from disrupting
- Khala's awakening plans. Move as you normally do in the map areas
- and escape as many fights as you can. The arena doors are represented
- by a hyphen '~b-~2' Sometimes, your foes will be one up on you and there
- will be no escape from them, you must then battle to the death.
- To attack, just move toward your enemy and you will yield your current
- weapon. Magic casters can cast spells depending on the spells they
- have learned by pressing the plus sign '~f+~2' or the '~fS~2' key.

- ~4=-------------------------=
- ~fPLAYERS' PROFESSION (TYPE)
- ~4=-------------------------=
-
-
- ~d -=--] FIGHTER [--=-
-
- ~2 Players who have chosen to become fighters, are very well adapted to
- battle for many hours at a time. This is a "good all around" type and
- is recommended to those without much experience in role-palying games.
- Fighters can fight with any weapon (except magical items) and usually
- receive more attribute-points at the community college than any of the
- other types. They only lack at LUCK, but that doesn't seem to bother
- them, for they can fight any mutation of any level that comes along.
- One of the major advantages of this type of player, is the ability to
- exchange weapons with any mutation killed in battle, also, armor and
- shields of incredible protective range are available to this type.
-
- ~e ADVANTAGES

-
-

- at short range, rather, they have developed the ability to cast spells
- which may do minor to moderate amounts of damage to their enemies. Once
- their enemies have been reduced after a series of spells, they usually
- engage in short, sucessful battles. This is the type of character most
- intriguing in the land. When played well, everything appears so easy,
- but when used by inexperienced hands, death is almost certain.

-
-
-
- ~d -=--] ROGUE [--=-
-
- ~2 True hybrids, Rogues are a remarkable adaptation model by any standard.
- They combine the best of qualities found in the wizards and in fighters.
- This type of player is very sucessful in long journeys. Their ability
- to cast spells as well as to use weapons of medium damage range makes
- them the ideal type for those seeking to conquer the land in minimuns
- amounts of time.
-
- ~e ADVANTAGES

- + Has a reportoire of valid weapons, all available for sale
