  3. Welcome to Band-in-a-Box for Windows version 6.0

  5. If you've purchased the PRO version of Band-in-a-Box:
  6.    Remember that, even if you don't plan to use the DOS version
  7.    of Band-in-a-Box, there are styles / songs on the DOS Band-in-a-Box
  8.    disks that you can use with the Windows version. So you should
  9.    install those disks as well. Otherwise you will get messages like
  10.    "style not found."

  12. BBW 6.0 requires a computer with 3mb RAM or more. It will not run
  13. on a 2mb machine (or will run very slowly due to memory constraints).

  15. If you use TSR virus scanning programs (like VSAFE.SYS (from CPAV or DOS 6.0))
  16. sometimes these programs won't let you run an upgraded version without a 
  17. message that the program's .exe size has been "changed" (i.e. upgraded ). 
  18. Sometimes they issue a message like (File access denied) when you try to 
  19. run the new program. If so, delete the c:\bb\smartchk.cps or 
  20. c:\bb\chklist.ms file that these programs use for checking, and re-run the 
  21. program. Note: You should not encounter this problem with a normal install 
  22. of BBW, it is only applicable if you install "manually" for some reason.

  24. INSTALLING FROM DOS IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH INSTALL FROM WINDOWS
  25. If you have any problems installing the software using the installation
  26. program, you can install the program "manually" from DOS (or a DOS Window).
  27. To do this, run the INSTDOS.BAT program. This program uses the DUNPACK.EXE
  28. utility to expand the files to your c:\bb directory. If installing manually
  29. remember to read the READDOS.TXT file which tells you to copy the 2 font files
  30. to c:\windows\system .
