- it subject to the usual shareware rules; see LICENSE.DOC for full details.
- You are requested to register your copy as described in LICENSE.DOC.
-
- We appreciate the concerns many people have about registering their shareware:
- authors move or just disappear. This is why we use a post office box (at a
- REAL US Post Office!) to ensure that our address stays the same indefinitely.
- If you have any questions or comments, we would love to hear from you; see
- ORDER.FRM for our address. Thanks for your interest!

- The TADS Run-Time
- -----------------
-
- In order to play Deep Space Drifter, you need the TADS Run-Time module.
- To make the Deep Space Drifter shareware distribution file smaller, we
- distribute the TADS Run-Time module separately. You should be able to
- find the file TADS2RUN (usually with an extension indicating the type
- of compression utility used, such as .ZIP or .SIT) from the same place
- you got Deep Space Drifter. If you have any trouble finding TADS2RUN,
- call our BBS; the latest TADS2RUN is always available for download
- at 415 493 2420.
-
- NOTE: If you're a registered user, your disk includes the complete
- Deep Space Drifter executable -- you don't need any additional files.
-
-
-
- Notes for DOS users
- -------------------
-
- To run the game, just type: TR DEEP
- Registered users, type: DEEP
-
- On PC's, you can edit command lines with the arrow keys and other standard
- editing keys. Review Mode (described in DEEP.DOC) is activated with
- function key F1.
-
- Saved games are stored in standard DOS files, by default in the current
- directory (the directory from which you start the game), so make sure
- you have free disk space before you begin playing.

- About TADS
- ----------
-
- TADS is a programming system that lets you write your own professional-
- quality text adventure games. TADS uses a high-level, C-like object-oriented
- language. The system comes with a compiler, the run-time system, a source
- file that implements a large set of common adventure objects, on-line
- documentation, and the source for a complete sample game. When you
- register your shareware copy of TADS, you also get the printed, 240-page
- TADS Author's Manual, plus the TADS Debugger, a full source-level debugger
- for programs written with TADS. You can get the latest TADS shareware
- from the High Energy BBS (see below).
