  5. * Changes in the handling of virtual disks.

  7. These changes are aimed at preventing known forms of inconsistencies of virtual
  8. disks. The inconsistencies could occur when VMware was not properly shut down
  9. -- for example, when the host computer shut down abruptly because of a power
  10. failure. Such inconsistencies lead to bug # 1683 and other less common
  11. problems.

  13. * A utility (vmware-dskchecker) that repairs virtual disks with existing
  14. inconsistencies.

  16. Information about the disk checker utility including binaries for download are
  17. available at http://www.vmware.com/support/diskchecker.html.

  19. The new releases of VMware will perform a scan of the virtual disk once after
  20. the upgrade to the new version and once following any abnormal termination of
  21. VMware.
