  14. About WC4PATCH
  15. --------------
  16.  
  17.   WC4PATCH was written to address 16-bit SVGA palette problem found
  18.   with video cards using the S3 Vision 968 chipset and the IBM RGB524
  19.   RAMDAC. Cards we know Wing Commander IV has a problem with include
  20.   the Hercules Graphite Terminator Pro 64 PCI and the STB Velocity PCI.
  21.  
  22.   WC4PATCH verifies that the original executable (found on disc 1 of
  23.   the release version) is used. If it does not work, try copying the
  24.   WC4.EXE file from disc 1 into the Wing Commander IV directory.

  27. Installation of WC4PATCH
  28. ------------------------
  29.  
  30.   1)    Change to the directory where WC4PATCH.EXE was extracted.
  31.   
  32.   2)    Copy the WC4PATCH.EXE file to the C:\WC4 directory, or
  33.         the directory used to install the game, i.e. :
  34.  
  35.             COPY WC4PATCH.EXE C:\WC4   [ENTER]
  36.  
  37.   3)    Type WC4PATCH and press [ENTER]. The patch will let you
  38.         know if it successfully updated the game. It should say :
  39.  
  40.           "Wing Commander IV 1.04F successfully updated! -ALS"
  41.         
  42.   4)    Try to run the game (using WC4). The odd colors should
  43.         now be normal!
  44.  
  45.   5)    Enjoy [16-bit SVGA]! :)

  48. Uninstallation of WC4PATCH
  49. --------------------------

  51.   To remove this patch, just recopy the WC4.EXE file from disc 1
  52.   into your Wing Commander IV directory, i.e. :
  53.  
  54.         COPY D:\WC4.EXE C:\WC4   [ENTER]
