  1. USS Ticonderoga Update
  2.  
  3. This is a self extracting patch that will automatically update
  4. the files in your Tico subdirectory.
  5.  
  6. This update adds the following enhancements:
  7.  
  8. 1.  Gravis Ultra Sound Sound Card Support
  9. 2.  Pro Audio Spectrum Sound Card Support
  10. 3.  Ensonic Sound Card Support
  11. 4.  Weapons on board now display in a number format.
  12.  
  13. To use this update:
  14.  
  15. 1.  Copy the file PATCHTIC.EXE to the Tico directory on your hard drive.
  16.     (example:  Copy A:\PATCHTIC.EXE C:\Tico <hit enter> where A: is
  17.     the location of the patch disk and C:\Tico is the subdirectory where
  18.     USS Ticonderoga is installed).
  19. 2.  At the Tico dos prompt (C:\Tico>) type PATCHTIC <hit enter>.
  20. 3.  If will self extract the following files:
  21.         PATCHTIC.RTP    786,843    5-26-95
  22.         PATCHTIC.RTD     10,357    5-26-95
  23.         PATCH.EXE        46,068    00-00-28
  24.         UPDATE.BAT           49    5-26-95
  25. 4.  To apply the patch and update the files, type "UPDATE" <hit enter>.  
  26. *IMPORTANT* You must run USS Ticonderoga prior to installing this patch to
  27. allow it to update all necessary files.
  28. 5.  The update is now adding or rewriting 33 files.

  30. Setting your Sound Card Option:
  31.  
  32. 6.  Before executing the Tico program, you need to reset your 
  33.     sound card option.  
  34. 7.  Type "SETSOUND" <hit enter>.  
  35. 8.  You should now see a violet window that says "Current Sound Configuration"
  36.     and a blue window that says "Sound Configuration Options".
  37. 9.  Under the blue window, choose "Select & configure digital audio driver"
  38. 10. The next screen will list the 6 sound card options.  They are in order:
  39.         1.  Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100% Compatible
  40.         2.  Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro or 100% Compatible
  41.         3.  Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32
  42.         4.  Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum (this requires that the 
  43.             MVSOUND.SYS driver is installed.)
  44.         5.  Gravis Ultrasound
  45.         6.  ESS Technology ES688 Digital Audio (Ensonic Sound Card)
  46. 11. Choose the option that best fits the card you have.  If you are unsure
  47.     or you do not see your card listed, then choose option #1.
  48. 12. Highlight the "Select" option at the bottom of the sound card screen.
  49.     Hitting Enter brings up the last screen where you set the address of your
  50.     sound card.  Choose "Automatic".
